Celtics looked like they DGAF. They were awful.
Nice to see Porter get some looks. Funny that his unorthodox jumper seems to be a strength.
LOL @ Blair with the floater from the foul line.

So let's not show up and just give up. I know we beat up on the bad teams. Everybody knows. We need to man up and win two of those next four games. It's not impossible.

On the other hand, they could come back with a statement win or two, or at least avoid a horrible blowout. 2-3 on the trip, with no blowout losses, would be quite respectable. 3-2 would make me think they're possibly a contender. The team has an opportunity on the road trip.
PS: Very satisfying win tonight. Wall highlights aside, hard to say who POG was. Many players stepping up.

to be fair, this is only our 2nd game all year with our real starting lineup so its good that we hit the tough games right now. The bad thing is that I really liked our chances at Hou & Dal but then we play them right when they get Brewer, Smith, and Rondo. Now those games look way harder. I bet KD comes back by time we play OKC too

Yep. Had a mind to bring my Dad and my son in tonight for their first games. But couldn't find three decent tix together. Anyone got some to sell.
Lsbf, I hope you do!
I lost custody of my sons in March. My dad died the first of this month.
Cherish the moments together with oved ones whenever you can.
CCJ. Really sorry about your sons and your father. I can't imagine what it must feel like. I feel for you brother... And can speak for the other posters when I say that, though we haven't met in person, I feel like I know you well because you're kind and courageous enough to share your truth with us.
Hang in there... We got your back.
I couldn't get a third ticket, so my Dad bagged on it (I think he was relieved truth be told). But I was able to take my son to his first real NBA game (we did go see the Wiz/Grizz in Ricmond).
Really fun first quarter... In comparison to past years, seems like more people got there on time and made some noise from the beginning.
After the first quarter, both teams kind of mailed it in. The Cs barely tried.
Zeller was awful. Olynick looks like he's for real. Got a lot of little tricks on offense for a second year player.
The game looked really, really easy for Wall. Looked like he could turn it on whenever he chose.
Nene is maybe even getting better on defense.
All in all, the kind of easy win a good, confident, veteran team can count on.
In Rizzo we trust

Re: Official Thread -- Wizards vs Cs (12/27/14)
Watched the game on delay. Nice to see the team take control from the start and get a comfortable win.
Wall did his usual. Pierce and Porter both played very well; Pierce in the first half, Porter in the second half. Hump had a great game, and Gortat played strong as well.
Temple looked horrible in garbage time; OTOH, he was going up against a motivated Smart -- who, as we've seen before, has the potential to become a disruptive defensive player. Still, I wouldn't use this game tape as Exhibit A in the case to keep Temple over signing Ray Allen.
Good win!

I thought Porter played a solid game even before the fourth quarter outburst as a glue guy. I'm glad he got 10 points in the 4th quarter to validate that effort. I thought he did an excellent job of feeding the post which got Seraphin going offensively and Porter himself played solid defense. I believe that Crowder guarded Porter in the 2nd quarter while Turner guarded Porter in the 4th.

Re: Official Thread -- Wizards vs Cs (12/27/14)
Excellent team win. These are my favorite kind of games: nobody played 30 minutes, nobody scored 20, and the whole roster played and played well. That's flexing your muscle in a Spurs-esque way.
Would have been a bigger blow out if we'd taken care of the ball better and the officiating hadn't been ****. We get zero respect. They didn't even want to give us whistles on easy calls like those charges Wall took--those whistles were late as hell. And we were the aggressive team.
Nevertheless, we were in control of the game from the opening tip.
Did what we needed to do, now let's collect some pelts on this tough road trip.
One thing, the Celtics look sloooow. Some of those drives we drew charges on were laughably slow and deliberate. And while Kelly Olynyk is good running the floor on the break, for the life of me, I can't figure out how he doesn't get the ball stolen or commit a charge on every single one of his drives. His total lack of explosion is painful and he dribbles the ball six feet high and just barrels forward out of control. Eventually we just started snatching the ball away from him, but there is no excuse for how long it took to figure him out when you consider this is the third time we've played Boston.

Re: Official Thread -- Wizards vs Cs (12/27/14)
Wall made Smart look like a total scrub. I was a Smart fan and think he can eventually be a galvanizing leader at PG but he will never be close to as good as Wall.
Humphries played with terrific energy and Porter looked really good in limited action. He was aggressive, feasting on a weak opponent, only passed up one or two shots I think he should have taken. Seraphin also had a solid game, providing a strong interior presence that Boston's bench bigs didn't want to mess with. Nice game from our bench front court.
My impression of the Celtics' bigs is that they overrate Olynyk and Sullinger is underrated. Olynyk is nothing special man. He's slow and a horrid defensive player and as a featured offensive player, he has minimal upside. Sullinger has some special tools though. He looks strong as a bull and can establish deep post position but also has soft finishing touch and three point range on his jumper. He's a high IQ player and he's tough. You can't hit him and have him back down. He's also got long arms and the wherewithal to make the occasional strong defensive play. If he were a shameless stat chaser like Kevin Love, he'd be a lot more highly regarded.
That said, the sequence where Humphries schooled Olynyk and Sullinger three times in a row in the first half was pretty ugly, and suggest that you can't play Sullinger and Olynyk together and hope to field any kind of decent defense.
Nevertheless, if any big from that Boston team is worth trading for, it's Sullinger. He's the best one by far IMO.

Every win counts like the pressure Wiz and Hawks are putting on the Raptors makes us better.
Got our 1st win of our 5 game Western road trip Denver tomorrow.
Portland & GS games will indicate how good we are without DeMar who is out till likely All Star game.

It appears that 17 points on LIGHTS OUT 6-9 & 3-5 from 3 & 3Rs & 2As & 2 steals doesn't even merit a sentence from u? For the 3 games VS the Cs this season, the Truth was VINTAGE & scored >20 PPG on 60-70% shooting overall & from 3.
Mark my words: The Wiz will see many more of these prototypically vintage Truth games after 1/1/2015.
And his stat line will improve from his current 13 PPG on 44% & 35.5% from 3 playing only 27 minutes per game & taking only 10'FGAs per game to around 15 PPG on 46-47% & 38-40% from 3 by the end of the RS. Together with his incalculably invaluable mentorship of Wall & Beal & former Finals MVP/future HOFER swag, Paul will be essential to the upcoming deep PO run.
First things first - most difficult 5 game RT of the season - Houston, Dallas, OKC, SA & NO. 3-2 would be spectacular.
And then a couple of games VS the very tough Bulls. Bulks are a bugger obstacle to the EC conference championship than the Raps, Hawks & Cavs. Mirotic is VERY good, DRose is starting to play like DRose, Butler is having a breakout season, Noah is solid, Gasol has been reborn & Taj is tough as nails.
SamIam 2010: Truth's ability to play so incredibly efficiently is so UNDERAPPRECIATED. Bballcool 2012: Amazing how great Pierce has been for so long. Continues to defy age! KG 2013: P is original Celtic. Wherever he goes, we go. This is The Truth's house.

Re: Official Thread -- Wizards vs Cs (12/27/14)
Fish Thoughts:
Was at the game. Struck by how on-time this crowd was. I go to a lot of games and DC is a pretty late arriving crowd. The arena was 90% full by tipoff and packed soon thereafter. After the game, chants of "Let's Go Wizards" were breaking out on the concourse -- this is not the norm. This is the fewest Celtics fans I've ever seen at a Wiz game. Their descent to suckitude undoubtedly plays a role there, but people are showing up and supportingthis Wizards and I couldn't love it any more.
Pierce was great. I keep forgetting that he's pacing himself. If he improves as the season progresses he's going to make a huge difference. I just love the guy and watching his body language -- from the way he interracts with his players, opponents, officials and the crowd. I really think he means a lot to this team. If he can get that 3-ball going with consistency we're going to be great.
Seraphin is starting to really piss people off. In my section, I heard a couple of boos toward him and someone yelling "black hole." Getting him out of the rotation in favor of Pierce/Nene/Hump/Webster is unrealized value.
Edit to add re: Otto -- someone mentioned in the Knicks GT that he might be hurt, and seeing him up close has me wondering the same. His gait's always been kinda awkward, but something seems off -- maybe that hip is bothering him again? His body language is different -- something is different. Confidence, "swag," something that I can't place. Great to see him draining his jumper, but dude, get your ass behind that line. made jumpers from 22, 22, 20 and 19 feet. If John has taught us anything, we just need to be patient with Otto. As soon as he figures out how good he can be, he's going to be very good.
Really nervous and excited for this roadie. Hoping for the best, but very worried about this upcoming schedule.

Yeah he was terrific. His shooting was nearly perfect but his decision making is what stood out to me. Took it inside from the perimeter on a couple shots when they closed out hard on him and drew some fouls when the normal tendency would have been to keep going with that jumper when it's falling like it was. And I like that he scored leading the break when Wall was running with him. Everyone in the arena was expecting him to dish to Wall but he read the D and took it to the cup himself.
Wall got him involved in the game immediately with those early threes and that two on one break. This set the tone for the night, it was a blitzkrieg.
I thought Paul got jobbed on some foul calls. I didn't have a problem with the second blocking foul he got called for, but that first blocking foul was a bad call IMO. And it came close to a charge call on Gortat where Sullinger slid under him.
Again, that officiating flat out sucked. Wall got hacked several times and no FTs? Friggin 24 to 10 FT disparity when we were the aggressive team. Shameful. That's the only reason the margin was within 25 points.

Good comments (bold) Fish. Seraphin...IDK. Again the actual numbers may make my eyes a liar but he
seems to have a better sense of awareness on O. As for being a blackhole, that's on Witt. When
he's patient and waits for the side to clear, his shot is good. Of course there is still the issue
of TOs and lack of boards. For one game, it didn't matter.
In contrast to the 2x OT game, the C crowd was strangely silent. 18-6 to start the game
may have had something to do with this but it just seemed like there were far fewer C
fans there. This made the game soooo much more enjoyable. It's remarkable how
much nicer it is not to suffer the indignities of numerous pompous C fans and
the b2b wins over the just awful Knicks and Cs feels really good after so many
of humiliating inferiority.
I was surprised that Brandon Wright who utterly destroyed us as a Mav this season
barely played. He's probably a better all-around player than either Zeller or Olynyk.
If BOS doesn't start using him, we should explore how we might acquire him this
coming off-season if there is any feasibility in that idea. I remember last year or
the year before Kev stumping everyone with his statline without the name.
