December 28, 2014 – Charlotte Hornets General Manager Rich Cho announced today that the team has assigned forward Noah Vonleh to its NBA D-League affiliate, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.

"We believe Noah would benefit greatly from additional game experience," Cho said. "He will be able to get that playing time through this D-League assignment.”

Vonleh was selected by the Hornets with the ninth overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. The 6-10 rookie has appeared in four games this season, with averages of 2.5 points and 2.8 rebounds in 8.0 minutes.

Hornets Sports & Entertainment owns the Charlotte Hornets and operates Charlotte’s Time Warner Cable Arena.

That team would probably beat us.

looks like his main competition for minutes will come from will frisby, ramon harris, chris porter and bruno caboclo. he shouldnt have any problem getting 20-30 minutes.

flash forward to March 2015, Rick Bonnell asks Steve Clifford why rookie Noah Vonleh isn't playing any minutes even though the team is 20 games below .500 and both Al Jefferson and Marvin Williams are out for the rest of the season with injuries...

Clifford - "well, um, you know, Noah is a good kid, but he missed part of training camp and that really put him behind in his development."

flash forward to December 2015, Rick Bonnell asks Steve Clifford why 2nd year player Noah Vonleh isn't playing any minutes and is even buried on the bench behind free agent big man Joel Anthony

Clifford - "well, um, you know, Noah is a good kid, but he missed part of training camp his rookie year and that really put him behind in his development."

Dahntay Jones plays for them? Take a look into the future for you Hobe!!

So is Vonleh going to get some burn down there? Seems like they already have a lot of bigs playing for them.

forget Dahntay Jones for a second.

Chris Porter is freaking alive, let alone playing in the D-League!!??? Is he trying to get back in the league? After all this time? I mean, he played on the same Warriors team as Bob Sura and Chris Mills... That just sounds impossible.

I feel like I need to read 500-word long posts by Chris Porter's Hair and Floppymoose (from the Dubs section of RealGM) and Bill Simmons's take, then have a discussion that involves all four of us to fully grasp what I just learned.

Finally, getting Noah playing time for our lottery pick. Either he is totally lost or Clifford just won't put in the time to help the guy. I know it is difficult to teach during the season, but can't assistants do teaching outside of team practice?

Whatever...just get the guy minutes. I guess it was this option or sit Maxiel, and Cliff gotta have his crappy vet around.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

the Spurs roster is really small, only 1 player 6-10 and over Erik Murphy. only other player i recognize is Josh Davis (was on our SL team)

Rick Bonnell ‏@rick_bonnell 54s54 seconds ago

I would anticipate Noah Vonleh's D-League assignment to be relatively brief -- a handful of games.

i think vonleh will look similar to how he looked in summer league - lots of rebounds, poor fg%, lots of fouls, a few promising offensive displays mixed with a few WTF moments.

Vonleh, Bruno, Porter... what's not to like, am I right!?

we should have three-way joint game threads with the Raptors fans and "Chris Porter's Hair".

Taylor was just assigned to a D League team as well. Should make this thread for both of them
