Game 30: Cavs vs. Detroit Pistons 4:30 EST, NBALP FSO

Post#1 » by King Stannis » Sun Dec 28, 2014 6:24 am

The Cavs face the struggling Pistons at the Q. LeBron James and Kevin Love led the Cavs to a surprisingly tough victory over the Magic and look to start a new winning streak. Meanwhile, the Pistons are in the hunt for the worst record in the NBA. Kyrie Irving questionable.

Carried by NBA League Pass and Fox Sports Ohio.

Keys to the Game:

1. Don't play to the level of the competition.
2. Play defense.
3. Don't play to the level of the competition.
4. Don't play to the level of the competition.
5. Don't play to the level of the competition.

Recommendations:

Play like they should and broom the Pistons quick in order to rest LeBron, Kyrie and Love.

Detroit is much better without Smith but still a horrible effort, we are not that good to get away with something like that.

I have seen enough to understand that this team is not a contender at present. Right now they are a fancy sixth seed with lots of talent and bad habits and laziness.

One LeBron James, and his disregard for Blatt, is making a fragile team worse right now. He may be conserving energy, waiting for later, which he isn't considering they can't blow out bad teams and he plays 40 minutes, but he is also allowing players who may not know the difference in how to dial things up going into April, develop bad habits on defense.

So, they need to right the ship pretty damn soon or face a first-round exit with a distinct possibility of Love leaving.

I can't wait to see what the FO can come up with as a move for a rim protector. That very well may make / break this season.

What could another coach be doing better than what Blatt is doing? Chill mode is more of an issue than Blatt.

Blatt obviously doesn't have control of the team if players are in "chill mode," players don't respect him. Coach should demand respect and motivate players to play hard.

Most of these guys have had enough different coaches and continue to play with the same effort that maybe its not the coach, its the player? Lebrons just a diva and should actually lead by example and respect the coach or hes gonna teach the young guys a lot of bad habits they already have.

Our offense has actually been really really good up until a few games ago and that coincides with more and more iso ball lead by lebron, defense however has been atrocious since the beginning.

I think the lack of respect that Lebron has for him is ruining the team.

Blatt flat out sucks and it's sad that some people on here can't see it. There's no way that a team with this much talent should be struggling as much as it does. The team is not going to get better. They've done this, we have to fix things bs where they play better for a few games then revert back to bad habits and losing. I guess it's the fault of everyone else but blatt.

So, what's your brilliant idea, then? Get rid of all the players and keep the coach? The players like Kyrie, Love and Irving are talented individually so it's not a question of talent. It's a coaching issue. Yeah, let's trade Kyrie and Love and ride with Coach blatt, who's never coached in the nba prior to this season.

Ride it out to what? This is what the cavs are and this is what they're going to be in the future if they remain like they are. There's no hidden formula here. They've tried different things, have played better for several games and then have gone back to losing. There's nothing good that's going to come from riding it out. You're only going to make players more frustrated with what's going on and it will come to a point where they start losing confidence that they can be a great team. There's talk now that there's a disconnect between blatt and the players. Even I can see it in the interviews and by the lack of effort displayed out there. Blatt has taken several indirect shots at kyrie irving that's been pretty disgusting in interviews this season. I think he came in here with an ego that "oh, I'm this smart ass guy from Princeton." He sounds like a know it all and has a pompous attitude in interviews. Time for him to go back to Europe.

Kyrie and LBJ regularly abandon the offensive sets. LBJ checks himself back into the game literally at will. LBJ plays defense about half the time. K. Love PNR defense is horrid. It's nightmare inducing. He actually sets a second pick on his own player half the time. He doesn't even put his hands up on defense. Is the NBA or middle school? Mike Miller is incapable of defending starting caliber 2 guards. TT is 6'9" and is the only first or second-string caliber center currently on the roster. Let's fire the coach. That will change everything. Meanwhile, Dion, Kyrie and TT will be on their fourth coach in three years.

Here is what I don't understand - both Dion and Kyrie have played more inspired defense this year than anytime in their careers (they still have their lapses). TT is giving it his all out there on the floor. How are the young players, playing inspired ball while our great players look like they are in chill mode. It's pathetic.

So when do the "we are not a complete team, give us time to gel and we'll be the best ever" excuses stop?
