POLL: What to do with Big Al
Hopefully this poll will give us a better read on where the fans (at least online) stand regarding the direction of the team with or without Al Jefferson. We represent a small group but also a very vocal and passionate group.

Re: POLL: What to do with Big Al
I didn't vote "trade Big Al" since I don't see a realistic trade out there (not some trade proposed on this board where teams magically want to give up a 1st rounder for Gerald "80s Jumpers" Henderson).
Obviously, I'd like something in return for him but I just don't see it happening. So I vote "let him walk".

Re: POLL: What to do with Big Al
If he opts in we really don't have a choice but to keep him.

The flip side of not trading him in a more realistic trade is paying him if he opts in.
Obviously the only 2 categories that can be controlled are trading him or extending him.
The variable is Big Al either opting in or opting out. We can't count on either one of them.

I guess they could look to move him at next years deadline or just stick with him for the one full year.

Re: POLL: What to do with Big Al
I like holding on to him because I don't think we'll get any worthwhile offers and because I think it sends a message to future FAs that we will treat them well.
I really don't think he opts in. Honestly I think he'd probably be wise to opt out even if he has take a three year deal for less money. He needs to secure that last major contract.

He's the only guy on our roster who is elite at doing something.
Edit: You could maybe put Biz in that category as well for his shot blocking?

Why would Al Jefferson opt out?
What player in the NBA has ever walked away from a $13.5M contract?
His play this year is slamming his fa market window and cratering his trade value.

Trade him. I don't want to take the risk of him opting in.
Humble yourself.

Perhaps, he and his agent might decide that he'll have a harder time negotiating with teams next summer, when all of them will be eye-ing bigger targets and Al will be one year older. Might as well go for that TV money this summer.

Trade him by the deadline. if nothing substantial happens, let him walk. We don't really need him.

MKG is elite defensively, Gary Neal is elite at pissing me off.

Trade him or make him come off the bench, or make him play more with the second unit than the starters.

I was a big Chris Porter fan when he was at Auburn.

Re: POLL: What to do with Big Al
A lot of the bad that come with Big Al I gotta hold Clifford accountable for since he don't hold Big Al accountable for his lack of effort. I used to think Clifford was one of those ballsy coaches like Popovich that held the entire team responsible for their play from the starters to the last man on the bench but it's clear that Clifford has favorites that he turn a blind eye to their play while having a unfair quick leash on others.

Re: POLL: What to do with Big Al
Would anybody trade Al Jeff to GS for David Lee?
How about Al to OKC for Kendrick Perkins, Jeremy Lamb + Mitch McGary?

I would do both of those trades. I like the OKC one more tho because it give us a better outlook. The GSW trade would be kinda meaningless and redundant on stockpiling PFs but maybe it'll put Biz on the floor more for some rim protection. Clifford prolly would start Maxiell at C or move Zeller to starting C with Lee before he'd start Biz tho.
