Kings @ Nets

Post#1 » by Kings2013 » Tue Dec 30, 2014 12:55 am

We are in a scrappy game so far in the first.. Its a shame I don't have more confidence in the bench when it gets to the late 1rst.. PDA has work to do on that this summer

The defense is horrible. Looks even worse than it did the other night against the Knicks.

Yeah, the team is in flux.. No stability on the sidelines or in philosophy.. Cousins contract only lasts three years after this.. This year was supposed to be a step forward.. You now really have to hit it out of the park with this coaching hire to settle things down

McCallum not really using this big opportunity to move ahead of Sessions in the rotation.

This teams defensive abilities from a personnel standpoint are what they are, and right now you're seeing how much of a difference effort makes for a team like this. This team has very few legit defenders so that means for them to be even an OK defensive team they need to give 110% every play, which I know isn't ideal but it's reality. It's totally hit or miss at the moment with more miss than hit. At least they are playing slower in this game and with more patience offensively because if they didn't, they'd be down 20 with effort like they showed in the 1st quarter.

That leads me to Cousins. I know he's still not full strength but he's getting back into some bad habits. He's starting to reach more and get his arms up less. The entire difference in his defense this year has mostly revolved around him just simply sticking his hands in the air and challenging shots. Dude has a 9 and half foot standing reach, use it Cuz! Him putting his arms at a players chest level might as well make him 5'10". I really wish Corbin would say something about that.

Yeah, just erase the last few games and go by one where everyone is pretty much playing like crap. If 5 minutes worth of the Knicks game didn't put him ahead of Sessions for life then this team really is in trouble moving forward.

McCallum hasn't played well 90% of the time he's played in the NBA. It's not a one game judgment.

I was about to blame it on jet lag, but this seems like a reasonable answer. :P

It's pretty amazing. When the Kings run, the other team gets better.

I hope Cousins calls out the FO after this game.

This is embarrassing to watch.

He is still a young player though, barely played in his rookie season. What is the solution to you? I know your not fond of McCallum but are you in support of Sessions or just bringing someone else in?

Personally, and I think I speak for the majority of Kings fans, Sessions has pretty much played himself out of the planned future of the organization. So if you have two back up pgs that aren't par arguably, might as go with the younger one to see what he has, and if he doesn't show anything handle the situation in the off season, as I am not sure who you could pick up now

Take a look at his On/Off stats. The team takes a nosedive when he steps on the court. Yes they're better than Sessions', but that's a red herring. Neither look like options going forward. I admit Ray can improve, but his average athleticism and size makes me think his ceiling is limited, and he's playing worse than last season.

McCallum - http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... -off/2015/

Sessions (for the lulz) - http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... -off/2015/
