queridiculo wrote:Can somebody explain to me what the review at the end was all about? I was under the impression that the refs could review whether Nene was in or outside of the circle, not whether he was in position to take a charge.

Seemed like an odd review..

Great question since I was wondering the same thing. It seemed like the only reviewable part of the play was whether or not he was outside the restricted area. The replay showed he was, but so I have no idea why they didn't change the call. Whether or not Nene moved was not reviewable, so... I don't know.

I dislike video review for officiating in every sport.

I'm happy with using technology -- tennis uses it well in line calls and serves. Baseball could use it to call balls and strikes. And make fair/foul calls. I'd love to see some kind of technological application that could make out-of-bounds calls and/or 3pt shot calls easier and more accurate.

But I hate the process every league uses that stops the action. Let the guys on the field/court/rink make a call and keep moving.

Blair? Eff blair, why are we not closing the game with Nene

working my way through the thread today...
in case no one else mentioned this, no Blair because he was placed on the inactive list for this game
with the activation of Webster. Given how Gooden was playing and has played, they might want to re-
think that.

Seraphin was visibly awful. My lyin' eyes couldn't make any other conclusion possible.

I hate that Marc Stein has wiz ranked 11th in NBA while they have one of the best records in dec. The wiz beating west coast teams-

Also the West not that much better than the east-

Wiz, Hawks, Raptors, Bulls and Cleveland can beat anyone on any court on any day-

And all of the west teams can lose to anyone on any day-

I was going to post something to this effect but I would have left off CLE for the time being.
The West has 2x as many good teams as the east, but the top 4 in the east, TOR, ATL, WSH and CHI
can go toe to toe with any team in the league.

And we actually made more FTs than Houston attempted!

I know I'm beating the same old drum, but we need to upgrade our back up PG. I love the Professor, but I've seen him devolve from one stinker out of four, to three of four.

Our 2nd unit has issues

Yep.

Need a younger PG desperately.

I know this is going to sound crazy but I wouldn't mind seeing Jordan Crawford return...or someone like that.

True that Dre can be a defensive liability but even though opp teams know this, not every
team has been able to capitalize on it successfully. And other teams have to defend Dre
who seems to have a real knack for playing near the rim even though he is among the
most floorbound players playing in the league. Ideally we could use one of those smallish
PGs that can come in and maintain the type pressure on the ball that Wall consistently
seems to do, but we're getting by and Andre does have his nights where he does a great
job in 12-15 minutes playing with the 2nd team.

I'm have a hard time envisioning The Other Jordan being consistently as effective.

Jimmy Recard wrote:What the heck happened to him? I thought he looked OK filling in for Rondo early last year. Was never a fan but at least he could create some offense from time to time.

I've said it all season, the only thing this team is missing is an athlete in the frontline and scorer off the bench who can fill it up, ala Jamal Crawford, Isiah Thomas, Lou Williams. Miller is basically done at this point.

I'm not sure Crawford has changed much since his days here. High volume, low efficiency player.
That's a bad combination if you want to win games.

I give him a hard time a lot, but Nene was fabulous last night. I don't think there's a big in the league with his combo of size, strength and agility. In the video above, there's a play at about the 5:00 mark where he got switched out to Harden on the perimeter. Harden ends up hitting a nasty stepback fadeaway, but the fact is that's the best shot he could get. Guards have an extremely hard time getting around Nene. I thought he was an unsung hero the win.

And then there's Kevin Seraphin. He's so bad -- so, so, so bad. He's sort of like the post version of Nick Young. The only thing he can conceivably do to help a team is to score. When he does it, it looks nice, so people think he's better than he is. At least he's only getting 15 mpg, but I'll be damned if there aren't a better use of those minutes.

Love locked-in Bradley. Love John creating havoc on D. Love Pierce piercing.

Real nice W.

Exactly the thought I was having this morning. They(N1/KS) both are only really helpful if they are
shooting well as neither brings much else of benefit.

Even when Nene is not effective offensively and his boxscore looks feeble, he's doing things
that help us win. Hopefully the minutes restriction will allow him to not miss too many more
games. Hump is decent and sometimes much better than that. But he's inconsistent not with
effort but with results.

Thanks Pine. I was watching on DVR last night and due to the delay and the fact that the
game was on CSN+ which I didn't program for extended time, my recording stopped at the
end of the 3rd Q.

Badinage Thoughts ...

There aren't any, because I couldn't find the game on any station, and had to follow it with updates on my app. How did you all see it? And why is it only available to me the next day? Confounding. It wasn't like this last year, but this has happened about five or six times already.

The game was on CSN+ since the Capitals game was on Comcast.

I go through the trouble of being as infiormative as I can when I build the first post of every game thread.

Apparently for nothing.
