Cavs @ Hawks: King James Turns 30!!!

Post#1 » by Jamaaliver » Tue Dec 30, 2014 3:10 am

Kyrie Irving probably doesn't plan on popping out of a cake to celebrate LeBron James' 30th birthday, but seeing Cleveland's point guard in uniform at Philips Arena figures to be enough of a present for the NBA's biggest star...Coming off a humiliating home loss, Cleveland should have Irving back in the lineup Tuesday night in Atlanta as it looks to mark James' milestone by erasing the taste of a similarly embarrassing defeat to the Hawks just 13 days ago...The only other time James faced the Hawks on his birthday went quite well. He celebrated No. 25 with 48 points in leading the Cavs to a 106-101 victory in 2009.

The Atlanta Hawks, who host the Cleveland Cavaliers at 7:30 Eastern on Tuesday (NBA TV), have won 15 of their last 17 games and have risen to second place in the Eastern Conference.

Rumors of discord between coach David Blatt and his players have begun to swirl, but James stressed Monday that getting on the same page won't happen overnight...

Lineups:

HAWKS
PG Jeff Teague
SG Kyle Korver
SF Demarre Carroll
PF Paul Millsap
C AL Horford

CAVS
PG Kyrie Irving
SG Mike Miller
SF LeBron James
PF Kevin Love
C Tristan Thompson

AL even bought Lebron a cake. Don't let Lance get to close!!!

Maybe we should all just pitch in and treat King James to a night at the Gold Club...that's still a thing right?

Adnin...you'll have to be the DD!!!

I'm worried about this one, fellas. Between Lebron's 30th BDAY, the recent National reports of discord among Cavs players and coach, and their 23 point beatdown by the DET Pistons...I foresee their team coming out fast and hard Tuesday night.

Plus it's a nationally Televised game...we have a history of not putting our best foot forward.

Either way, another good litmus test.

But the WIZ and Bulls are closing in...

Yea I'm definitely not excited for this one..

Cavs will be hungry after that disappointing loss against Detroit. We've been in a bad shooting slump as of late. It will definitely be a good "test" game to see where we stack up against them because it's kind of hard to judge that considering each meeting has been a blowout loss by both teams. As always, hoping we get that W!

I'll accept the role of DD lol.

I like our chances in this one, we just played a game where we got a season high 17 offensive rebounds, and should continue to get the rebounds against a team that has Thompson playing C. I expect our shooting touch to come back tonight.

The Cavaliers are going to play Defense for one quarter then get blown out by 28. I can't believe LeBron keeps breaking off f*cking plays and no one on this stupid soft a** Cavs team will step to him similar to how Riley got on him in Miami. Stupid GM thinks Kevin Love at Center is the way to go. All these damn injuries (Andy out for the year, Kyrie, Marion and LeBron might not play tonight :banghead:)

I really love what the Hawks are doing. Good luck to the rest of your season Hawks fans you guys deserve success.

Great win and all, but I never wanna see the combo of Scott and Millsap as our only big men on the floor ever again, Cleveland got into the paint and scored at will when we had that combo out there.

Regardless whether if they get voted in or not, the Hawks are lucky to have 4 all star caliber players in Teague, Millsap, Korver, and Horford.

It was a good game, but it was like on of those kissing your cousin type of games, because the win is nothing to get excited about. Since their was no Lebron, their is nothing to brag about.

By the way, Kevin Love is just straight up horrible. This season has really shown that his stats in Minnesota were just empty and he definately doesn't deserve a max contract. I don't even think he deserves $9 million per year.

Kevin Love isn't horrible. It just goes to show you can't just shove a guy into a role and expect him to succeed. Kevin Love has never had to be the Third guy on offense ever in his career...you can't just fall into that. It's the same reason some lifelong starters can't play off the bench and lifelong bench guys can't be starters. He is Two months into a new role and he is learning. You can't fake your way to 25+ points and 14+ rebounds in the NBA.
