Who do you think memphis should scout out in midseason free agency or have a good chance signing?
I feel like Memphis first and foremost needs to trade a few pieces to go from "one of the best in the west" to "Title Contender" , trading Prince midseason would net us a better player but less cap at the end of the year, any trade concerning koufus will net a worse player on a better longer term deal or a pick (such as the Cavs giving us our pick back or we could opt to trade to another team) Q-pon really needs to be moved to free cap for free agents in this case as we are tight on cap already, those are the only pieces i see being plausibly moved before the end of the season, other than if Adams were tacked on the end of a deal to finalize it.
That being said, the free agents I see Memphis pursuing will all depend on the trades
No trade:
Okafor
O'neal
Ray Allen
Beas (I think his contract abroad is up in February)
Trade Koufus:
All the above
Blatche (He will be avaliable in February and could be a very useful piece if we move Koufos near the trade deadline)
Kenyon Martin
Trade Prince and Pondexter:
All of the "No Trade"
I actually think we might pursue someone like Jordan Crawford or Robert Covington if we could not sign any of the above players
But give me your thoughts on who you think we will/should sign midseason

Re: MEM and the midseason Free Agency
I do not understand why Okafor and Blatche are still out of the league. Those guys are great role players if nothing else. I would be happy adding either of those parts to our existing front line. I don't think we can really afford to trade Koufas for someone like Waiters, who doesn't have the basketball IQ yet to be a legitimate contributor.
I also wouldn't mind adding someone like Eric Maynor or Daequan Cook.

I would not mind if the Grizzlies were to look into Okafor. His history of injuries still is a concern, but with him not playing so far this season, how well recovered is he and how much durability he has left to contribute to the game?

Re: MEM and the midseason Free Agency
I think Okafor has a back issue and he did not want to sign with anyone prior to Jan/Feb (I think). Blatche who makes his off season home in Miami, is having his tires kicked by the Heat. Ray Allen is nearing an announcement that he is in fact retiring rather than chase a ring in a cold weather climate.
Kenyon Martin, while available is not very dependable, given his knee injury history.
Jermaine O'Neal not considering teams other than Dallas and Golden State or just retiring.
Beasely is well Beasely and they are unlikely to revisit that again.
It is for that reason that real help should not be sought via the current free agents, but a trade is paramount if we are serious about contending this year. (IMO)
