i'm not sure what Pete can really say. whether they are or they aren't, he can't say they're looking for another coach right now. he can't say they're going to hire a new coach in the offseason. i hope i'm wrong, but i'm predicting some variation on what he has already said before: corbin is our coach now and we fully support him; we fired malone over philosophical differences.

and am i totally misreading the corbin contract situation? my first impression when i saw the tweet was, it's no big deal; it's just a formality; that's why it wasn't announced. if you're going to go on tv, stand behind the guy, and say you're going to give him a fair shot, then of course you are going to ink him to a head coach contract--which carries a significant raise. but i don't see the contract as a guarantee that he won't be fired and replaced before the season is over. coaches under contract are fired all the time. management is just trying to give corbin some sense of stability out there.

No kidding, it would probably violate contract law if he did. And firing Malone was a formality? Because they handled it much in the same way. Letting things just drizzle onto twitter is some of the utmost amateurish business tactics I've ever seen. It either shows no balls or not caring.

I've voiced our concerns to the GB moderators. Keep in mind however, that the GB is as hard it gets on the internet to moderate, and they're doing the best they can. Squash one moron and ten more spawn out of nowhere.

I will say, I think the team's downward spiral could inspire a coaching change sooner than management expected.

When the firing took place, the brazen management probably thought Corbin could hold it down reasonably well and the issue of coaching wouldn't need to be addressed before this offseason. Now with this spiral, management knows their jobs and the team are on the line, possibly forcing their hand to make a coaching change sooner than they anticipated

After Pete's interview I wouldn't bet on it.

They think all is golden and they haven't done a thing wrong, other then handle the PR.

It's Mullin for 2015, brace yourselves. Pete and the entire organization is contradicting themselves with every day that passes, and there's a reason for it.

If you're waiting for Karl you might aswell order a drink or 5, and relax in a comfy chair.

I do not like how this team has handled themselves over the past couple of weeks but I do not understand the the Mullins hate? Has there been an indicator that he will be a bad head coach that I might not be aware of?

I think we can also agree that we are a little tired of first year coaches. It usually takes a 1st year coach a year to figure it out and we are simply tired of waiting.

I do think it is pretty clear that we are hiring mullin this summer. Corbin is a placeholder. We fired malone after a losing streak before cousins came back to justify firing him. PDA couldnt risk us having a winning record at the end of the season if they wanted to hire mullin.

Also, there's this offensive genius HOF coach who missed the playoffs like twice in 25 years or something begging to coach the team, and it doesn't happen likely due to you know who..

And for me this is really the thing, he could be a great coach, but then he might a waste of time, you know why that is? Because he's an unknown commodity. Look at Jason Kidd for example. With the Nets you had a team looking to win now and out of how many different ways it may not have worked it didn't work. Yet, he goes to a younger team where the expectations are different and now he's doing a "good job". He's able to learn while his young team does the same. This team needs to start winning because this isn't really a super young team anymore that is only looking to develop. In another year you're all of a sudden far from it. 2 years is an eternity in the NBA, time for a known for a change. Learning on the job just won't cut it anymore. Malone was that, but at least he had a year under his belt at this point. There is no more time to start over and just look for a year under someones belt. Time is ticking away on the Cousins train.

With Mullin in particular the decks are even more so stacked against him. Has he ever had even rudimentary assistant experience? No. Not that it's the end all be all or anything, but it's just another one of those things that has to be really thought over. Here's my thing. If he's the guy, they need to give him a shot to do some stuff now. He might think coming in during the summer is the best thing for himself and the team, but it really isn't. If this season is a waste (which I know, they still think they can make the playoffs this year! haha, never know though) then they might as well use this time as a feeling out process where expectations are more tempered. Make something useful out of this season. Don't even set expectations on his success or failure, just think of it as more experience. Whereas if he comes in at the start of next year and he doesn't work out immediately the pressure is just going to mount and mount hard.

This goes back to my original opinion, why would he want the job in the first place? He's got a kush gig next to the boss, coaching would be a downgrade at this point and could ruin his career if he ever did want to coach, just like his time in GS severely damaged his resume as a GM.
