Re: Official Trade Thread: Two drink minimum
Sac got toasted by Celtics tonight, Cousins playing with a real bad attitude
Right now, he's our best hope to eventually land a superstar in this season.

Re: Official Trade Thread: Two drink minimum
Love would be fine as a 2nd option behind a Bledsoe or Dragic and surrounded by competent players.
But his lack of defense would be his Achilles heel.
Wolves were terrible because they didn't have a clear direction.
If suns ever get Love they need to keep pace and tempo high and not slow down the game to wait for him.

Re: Official Trade Thread: Two drink minimum
The Lakers pick continues to be the best asset we have available to land a star. The Lakers pick plus one of (Bledsoe or Dragic ) plus filler could net us a disgruntled all star such as Cousins or Melo. Maybe get us Bosh if Miami decides to blow it up. Maybe somehow get Love (I'm not a Love fan) if he decides he wants out of Cleveland. I don't think Bled plus filler or Dragic plus filler by themselves get us a whole lot in return.
I would prefer to keep the pick and cash it in next year when the Lakers really suck and we get the #4 pick. But if we moved the pick for a young star I'd be ok with that.

I love Chris Bosh and he would be the perfect fit on our team but man that's one gigantic contract. No thanks.

Just say no to Kevin Love. We aren't going anywhere on this team with him as our $18 million PF because, as stated by many, he is all offense and no defense. Is he really that much of an upgrade over $8million Markieff? His 3 point shooting might help Dragic and Bledso by spacing the floor, but if we must have an elite 3 point specialist I would rather get Ryan Anderson who is a poor mans Kevin Love.

Is this the disgruntled star the Suns should try and acquire? I would throw every asset I have to get Demarcus Cousins if he were to become available.

I would say most NBA franchises would find a way to make their franchise player happy and cater to him, but with the Kings you just never know what they will do.

Re: Official Trade Thread: Two drink minimum
The thing is, we have great assets for a team looking to rebuild, but the Kings have spent YEARS "rebuilding" and want to compete asap. They just inked Gay to a 5 year deal and have been looking for other stars/vets to build around Gay/Cousins.
Im sure there are other teams out there that would love Cousins and have a better offer (talent wise) then what we could come up with.

If we offer Bledsoe, Warren, and LAL Pick and our Pick I cant see why they wouldnt bite especially if Cousins is disgruntled.

Then would demand Len as a filler.

Remember though, we are "retooling/rebuilding" as well, so why would we give up our best player, plus a player with great promise for Cousins. And before anyone says we have to give to get, I totally understand that, but we have a deep enough of a bench that a Green, Len, and our 1st, should be enough. I mean, if we get Cousins, there won't be enough minutes for both, TBH. Would Cousins be worth trading Len for? I assume so, and the Kings are not likely to trade Cousins without getting Len back in return, right? So let Len be the centerpiece, and let Green, and if needed, Dragic be the supporting pieces, vice EB and the LAL 1st be the centerpiece. That would give them, potentially:
Dragic
McLemore
Gay
Thompson
Len
Not bad, actually, and us?
IT/Ennis
EB/Goodwin
PJ/Warren
Kieff/Mook
Cousins/Plumlee

Not including Len in a trade for Cousins. Include to Lakers pick if needed, but not Len. I want to put Cousins next to Len.

Re: Official Trade Thread: Two drink minimum
No way we get Cousins. The Bulls could offer Noah/Butler/Mirotic for Cousins/McLemore and still be legit in the East. Too many Eastern Conference teams could do a swap of some sort and have a better offer than us mostly because they have guys that can compete now.

Re: Official Trade Thread: Two drink minimum
Why are so many people interested in Demarcus Cousins? Yes he has great numbers but he has serious attitude problems and so far has done nothing in his career to prove he is a winner. With him on the team, the Kings have never even won more than 28 games. Four straight years of 28 wins or less with him on the team. Who knows if they will win more than that this year. Let's put this into some serious perspective. Outside of the 1999 lockout season, the Suns have won less than thirty games only four times in their franchise history. The Kings have four straight years of 28 wins or less. The Suns have done that four times since 1968. The Kings are also now on their fourth coach in five years. So Cousins has had four different coaches in not even five years of playing. Plus it is not like he has no talent around him at all. He has Rudy Gay. He had Isaiah Thomas for three years. Yet the Kings have not just been bad, they have been terrible. So what is his excuse?
Remember how Kevin Love put up MVP numbers on the Timberwolves and the Timberwolves were still awful? Well now Love is playing with Lebron and Kyrie and several veteran role players and people are saying this is the worst Love has ever played. He is dramatically down in his scoring and several other statistics as well. I think Cousins is that same type of player. The only difference between Love and Cousins is that Cousins seems like a maniac. He is a hot head. He is crazy.
Look at what Cousins did just tonight against the Celtics in a game the Kings were annihilated. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJDVHTNv_CQ Listen to the Celtics announcers at exactly 55 seconds in: "What do you do with a player like this Tom? I'd trade him hahaha." Cousins viciously threw Marcus Smart down violently. Compare that with what Len did tonight. Fighting for the ball with Westbrook and it got heated. Cousins is insane. I have no interest in ever seeing him in a Suns uniform. I do not consider what he does to be toughness. I consider him to be a player that acts like a baby and throws temper tantrums. I do not like him.

I'm not a fan of Cousins either. A special and talented player but would rather have Len develop. I don't want my son looking up to a player like Demarcus Cousins. A player that pouts and doesn't own up to his own actions is the last thing I want on my team. Would he make us better? Hell yeah but chemistry would be a real issue, especially if we lose games with him. Stick with Len and let him grow.

Yes...
Love is a proven 20+ ppg scorer and a 12+ rpg rebounder...
Defense.... Markieff isnt heads and shoulders better either... both arent "stoppers" nor "defensive power houses", but 1 can be relied on to score 30+ if he gets the ball.
If this was Prime Rasheed Wallace vs Kevin Love.... You'd have a point of rather having Rasheed Wallace 7/10 times over Love... but this is Markieff Morris... 16/6 type PF...

1. Not every star in the league can be Grant Hill in terms of attitude and class.
2. Z-Bo was also "cancerous" at one stage, Rasheed Wallace was also a "big baby"... Kevin Garnett is/was labelled as one of the dirtiest players and an absolute douche bag...but all of them on the right environment made their teams VERY GOOD to EXCELLENT.
3. Getting Cousins mid season would be comparable to Suns getting Charles Barkley.. also a player who was said to have a not so "perfect" attitude.
4. Look at the top 10 players in the league and if you nit-pick enough you'll find each one has flaws that make them unlikeable to other fans. Cousins weakness would be his temper and passion (he wears his heart on his shoulders)...
Cousins on a competitive, decently-ran franchise would be an MVP candidate year in and year out.

I rather keep Len too..
But if push comes to shove and Kings are willing to trade Cousins if Suns send Len... then you have to take it and run..
But mind you... I would modify the trade so that the Suns either send Len OR the Lakers pick/Suns pick... not both.
Preferably I want to keep Len next to Cousins... Cousins can play PF.. have a twin tower setup, ala the Lakers Bynum/Gasol.
Send them;
Dragic OR Bledsoe
Morris twins
then trade Thomas for Wright and Nelson from Celtics.
Reminds me of the K.Garnett trade to the Celtics.... where Celtics traded an up and coming Al Jefferson (17/11/2 player at the time) for K.Garnett.
If Suns can get Cousins... thats when other FAs start to notice the Suns and start nominating the Suns for trades or FA signing.

Re: Official Trade Thread: Two drink minimum
If the Kings would rather compete right away (Like has been mentioned) instead of rebuilding, i would look for a 3-way like this:
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=nja62fr
Suns get Cousins/Thompson
Kings get Hibbert/West/DragicX2/MIN 1st (most likely 2 2nds)
Pacers get Thomas/Collison/Williams/Green/PHX 1st
Suns get their man. Reunite Bledsoe with Cousins. They also get an extra big body in Thompson. I would also suggest going after a Starting Caliber SG or SF in FA.
Bledsoe/Tucker/MkMorris/Cousins/Len
Kings send out a better more rounded team then what the had. More vets to team up with Rudy Gay. Shaq (minority owner) helps Hibbert improve a bit. They put out a team that could really contend and do some damage in the play-offs.
Dragic/McLemore/Gay/West/Hibbert
Pacers go into rebuild mode and prepare for George's return next season. They dump their two largest contracts and add 2 good PG prospects (up to them which one starts). Thomas and Collison are better than any of the guards the currently have (Both PG & SG). They will already have a high draft pick, but will be adding ours onto it as well. Green/Williams also helps open up some much needed capspace. Basically they are getting Thomas/Collison for West and Capspace+1st for dumping Hibbert.
