Question for you guys about LeBron's rest/Cavs @ Clippers on January 16th

Post#1 » by J Shuttlesworth » Fri Jan 2, 2015 5:19 am

Ok so here's the deal.

Me and two friends purchased tickets for Cavs @ Clippers on Jan. 16th. We spent a decent chunk of change (near 400 each) on the tickets. To be honest, we mainly bought these tickets to see LeBron/Irving/Love in their primes against Griffin/Paul/Jordan in their primes. And really.... we mostly bought these tickets to see LeBron live before his athleticism starts to deteriorate. As much of a privlege it is to see all these stars in their prime, I don't think we would have bought the tickets if we knew LeBron wasn't playing.

So I guess I have a few questions for you guys.

#1 - Will LeBron play?

For one thing, the reports are saying two weeks... technically, the game is two weeks from tomorrow. If he does get 14 days rest from today, he should be ready for the 16th? Or is the assumption that he will rest the entire western road trip?

#2 - If he doesn't play, will he be there with the team, or will he back in Cleveland?

I'm assuming he'll be traveling with the team, so we might be able to see him shoot around or something even if he's not playing the game. This might have been a stupid question, since 9/10 times I see an injured player still sitting on the bench, but just suited up. I want to double check.

#3 - Did my ticket value just decrease by a large margin?

If me and my friends decide maybe we should sell these tickets and try to catch a different game with LeBron, would it be a good idea or would be losing serious money? I might be better off asking this question in the Clippers forum since resale ticket value might be different between major cities.

#4 - Would you guys still go if you were in my shoes, and LeBron is confirmed DNP?

Simple question. Would you sell the tickets or keep them and go? I'm leaning towards still going regardless of what happens since it should still be a fun matchup. Kyrie is honestly more entertaining than LeBron this year and the seats are awesome. Plus... Clippers are simply a fun fun team... although Griffin's athleticism is a bit worse this season :x

If you are a Clippers' fan, you should go. Your chances of seeing a victory are nearly 100%.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Not a Clippers fan. We are just going because we are all visiting SoCal at that time, and we wanted to see the "big 3" play against the Clips since it's such a display of athleticism.

They mentioned on the broadcast tonight that they are hopeful LeBron will return for the two LA games.

He wasnt at the game tonight as far as I could tell. Dont know if he would be there if he didnt play.

Yes, your ticket value goes down if LeBron doesnt play. You already know that answer, but probably dont want to accept it.

Of course I would still go if I was in your shoes. If you're a Clippers fan it shouldnt really matter who they play. Go to support your team.

Yeah, actually the article on NBA.com said this:

"The team said Thursday that James has been diagnosed with knee and back strains. He'll be treated with "anti-inflammatories, rehabilitation, training room treatments and rest," and the Cavs projected he will miss two weeks. If he's out for just that span, James will be back for a Jan. 15 game in Los Angeles against the Lakers. The Cavs begin a five-game West Coast trip on Jan. 9."

That sounds good to me. I saw another article saying he will miss either through the 15th, or the 15th will be his first game back. It has me feeling pretty hopeful that we'll be able to see him.

I'm not a Clippers fan though. Really just an NBA fan... no specific team. Bron has been my favorite player in the league for years so I figure I have to see him live at least once. Let's hope LeBron is back soon!

Grats on the win tonight btw
