Andrew Wiggins

Post#1 » by LoveMyRaps » Fri Jan 2, 2015 7:50 am

After a descent start to the season, Wiggins has really picked it up in his last 5 games! He's been EXCELLENT both offensively and defensively.

Over his last 5 games, he's averaging: 22ppg (51%FG), 5rpg, and 1.4 steals. (One of those games, he only played a little over 20 minutes, since he got into early foul trouble vs Warriors)

Now i know this is a small sample and a bit premature, but it's great to see the development of our starting SF.

Check out some of his highlights:

I honestly cannot believe i'm watching the same player from a couple of months ago.

He's drastically improved:

* Ball handling (some of those takes ended with some dirty dunks ala Vince in his prime)
* Post moves (this is the BIGGEST improvement so far, I mean the kid can flat out ball in the post)
* Shot mechanics (he already had a good shot, but it was streaky, now he has an amazing step back J as well)
* Court Vision (he passes really well when doubled or blocked off on the take)

.. Wow. If he can just keep it consistent , Minnesota came out like bandits in the trade.

Too bad Bennet's still sucks, I mean he's not a fat slob anymore, but the guy clearly got drafted like 6 positions ahead of what he should of. Ah well, it's Cleveland that did the drafting afterall.

I think Bennett will work out, he's already improved (which wasn't hard, admittedly) but he should be a lethal shooter, and if he can learn to play well down low he'll be an asset. Def no worse a pick than Bargs

The Raptors have a very promising next few years. If there is any way for Wiggins to be a part of this, it needs to happen. Minnesota is not in the business of losing, but something like Ross, our pick this year, our pick from NY in 2016 plus an expiring where we take back one of their scrubs might be palatable for them.

Is it for us?

Wiggins is progressing nicely. Once he adds on some muscle and gains more experience, he'll develop into a premier player in the league. It would be nice to bring him home but for the short-term, his development would probably be best served by staying in Minnesota where there is less pressure to win and he is given time to be more of a focal point on offence much like DeRozan was in his early Raptor years. Acquiring him would be difficult. Any package would definitely have to begin with Demar unless you wanted to try and package Demar and Kyle for Rubio and Wiggins. I'm not sure if Minnesota would even want to do that.

Feel bad for him that all those games were losses. Hopefully it doesn't discourage him.

no offense, but RealGm really needs a -1 function.
