I'm afraid that if Ainge was only able to land 1 1st round pick for Rondo, then I fear that the Celtics will only get 1 or 2 2nd round picks each for Bass and Green. Smh.

Do you even know how we got Kevin Garnet? The key pieces to that trade: Al, Green, Gomes. ALL NON-LOTTO PICKS. We all know you don't like Danny and his methods... but we also all know you don't know shat about how the NBA works. So, swell. Enjoy your misery.

Ainge should get at least a 1st for Green, if not let him expire(opt out), no reason to help a team if there's no return.

edit: As some wrote here, my priority would be to trade Bradley. :D
Good assessment:

I'll file this stunning revelation next to that story about Brooklyn being willing to trade Deron, Lopez and Joe Johnson.

if we can turn green and bass into a one good young player with potential and a couple of picks , danny will have done well. we need speed, shooting and size and most of all guys who can defend. I don't see sullinger on this team long term either. too short and too out of shape. teaching him to shoot 3's has killed his post game

I doubt they trade cornerstones like green and bradley.

Deveney's on the Mannix level for me...the types that will jump on old Woj/Stein info and try to pass it off as a revelation.

To all the people bashing Ainge. What would you have done? Ainge attempted the quick rebuild by attempting to trade for love. If Cleveland didn't get lucky in the lottery. We had a very good shot at him.

The quick rebuild wasn't going to happen. So he did the best he can and got rid of rondo. Now green and bass will likely follow. Green can opt out and I am sure he would rather be on a playoff team. Bass is gone as well.

Outside of Olynyk and smart. Our best assets are the potential of those nets picks and our own. I'm not claiming Ainge is a genius. But he is doing what he has to with the hand he was dealt.

Umm...they would have drafted Jordan, Butler, Giannis, and Draymond. They then would sign Gasol this offseason, followed by Durant next offseason.

...duh.

I'm actively looking to have a threesome with Megan Fox and Scarlett Johansson.

So?

Don't forget our own lottery pick probably improves from like 10th to 5th, with around 4 times better odds to move into the top 3.

On late 1sts... covered it in a different thread yesterday, but Danny flipped Jiri Welsch at the trade deadline in 2005 for a Cavs pick that was top 10 protected in 2007. Cavs had a young player named LeBron and ended up making the 2007 Finals, so not a great pick... except for one thing... we used that pick to trade into the draft in 2006 and pick up a guy named Rajon Rondo.

Picks are useful. We could use them to clear out cap space like Gerald Wallace and also room take risks on players. If we ever get that top 15 player, it is a hell of a haul to build around.

Bass is an attractive bench addition to a contender, but his contract makes it tough to work out a deal. Portland is still the only plausible destination if we're not willing to take on a bad contract. I'll be surprised if he leaves, except in a larger package.

Green could hook someone, but it's not a Rondo situation where you're guaranteed to find a taker, even if it's a mediocre offer. Biggest competitor on trade market seems to be Wilson Chandler- I can imagine some teams preferring him over Green. As always, teams like Green, but not enough to pay a decent price.

I just hope another team's urgency helps us out. Worst case is that both guys walk and help our cap.. Wallace is the one we should really be trying to move, but I think the lack of desperation on him could work to our advantage- a talented player stuck on the bench could start to strike some teams as a buy low to fill a need..

Chicago, Toronto, Washington, LAC, Memphis, Phoenix, New Orleans could all use Jeff Green- Toronto, Washington, Memphis and Phoenix especially have the spare parts to make a deal.

if we were willing to sacrifice our cap space this summer, Denver could be a good partner to help out in exchange for their pick- Bass for Hickson, TPE for Gallo, Wallace for McGee and Denver's unprotected 2015 1st. They shave 18 million off their cap and restructure their roster- we delay our free agent spending one summer unless we can rehabilitate the guys we get and move them at draft time.

In hindsight, this was pretty **** stupid. But, we have to give Ainge the benefit of the doubt, maybe he though we were getting a star in the near future or would be better than we were.

Probably won't get much for Bass but I could see a reasonable haul for Green. I'd be content getting a 1st for both of them, I think it'd be a major mistake resigning Green to the money he's going to want. I'm honestly sick of Greens act, it annoys me that we have hope that "aggressive" Jeff shows up to the game. You get paid millions of dollars..... I don't give a **** if your on a bad team, we the fans support you by watching/going to games and buying merchandise. The least you can do is go out there and hustle, I can't even remember a time where I saw Jeff Green dive on the ground for a ball.
