Should the Heat Explore Larry Sanders
Milwaukee Bucks C Larry Sanders a player who has been an erratic and troubling player so far in Milwaukee. He displayed the ability/potential to be a Juggernaut defensive player which led him to his first big contract. Since then he has off the court issues/ injuries and so far a disappointing 2014/15 season. But the talent is still there and a rarity to find as good of a defensive player in the league now. Now I am not a big fan of Sanders, and I knew i felt it was a mistake by Milwaukee to sign him to that long term contract. But I recognize his talent and put in the right system he could be a hellava defender theo ratliff like. And the best time to get a talent is when his stock is down, and right now i think Sanders stock is low in Milwaukee and could be had. For what, I am not sure. Milwaukee is in playoff position, a team full of youth. Jason Kidd has announce the benching of Sanders while being injured. So it appears that Kidd feels he can do with out Sanders, if he continues to be a disappointment. Could he be had for some saavy veterans like Birdman, or Deng or a three team deal for a player like Lance Stevenson? Who knows..
But on paper and the system that Spo runs defensively, I think Bosh and Sanders can be a unique tandem. The length, the athleticism, rebounding shot blocking would give us exactly what we have been missing. And allow Bosh to play PF. Allow Bosh length now become defensive presence. But the question would be a Michael Beasley one with Sanders. Can he get his focus, stop smoking weed, staying out of trouble with the law and being a professional in a city like Miami?
I know some of you would look at his contract and say no because it effects the 2016 free agency. But its something we should consider. Larry is averaging 7.1 pts, 50% fg and 6.3 rbs this year.

Re: Should the Heat Explore Larry Sanders
And how can we get him?
You cant trade Birdman ! And we have that trade exception (Josh McRoberts = $2,652,500)

Sanders for Deng is working but Sanders contract is way too long 4 years ! It depends on who we want to catch in 2016...
But with the new tv deal, that contract will be a good one ! We all know a good center is so tough to catch !
I dont mind it at all ! More time for Ennis

Re: Should the Heat Explore Larry Sanders
I would say yes for 3 reasons :
1) We have a strong locker room, we could get Sanders to finally get his act together.
2) He's a good defender and rebounder, and his contract while long, is reasonable. Especially when the cap jumps up.
3) Who is the better player we're going to get with the cap space? give me a name.
I wouldn't mind sending out any of the following : Bird, Deng, Granger, Rio, Cole. Sanders is 26 YO and plays the most difficult position to fill. If we can get him with the names I mentioned without losing future picks, I would take the gamble.

Re: Should the Heat Explore Larry Sanders
Riley will need to get creative if the Heat are to acquire Sanders. Something like this might suffice:
. Miami Heat receive: Larry Sanders
. Milwaukee Bucks receive: Lance Stephenson and Norris Cole
. Charlotte Hornets receive: Chris Andersen, Mario Chalmers, 2015 second round draft pick from Sacramento or Miami's 2018 second-round draft pick and consideration for money.

We can't get him. Bucks are going to look for a 2 guard in exchange for him and we don't have the kind of 2 guard they're looking for. Only guy who could land him to us would be Deng, but I'm reluctant to trade him.

Yes. Larry Sander is a rare talent in the hardest position to fill. Is he a head case? Yes but Riley has proven to get players to buy in the the culture he has set forth. Sanders next to Bosh would be amazing for us. Add in Whiteside and Roberts, you have a very athletic front line at a very young age.

Deng will also opt out this season
It's possible they want an SG with a longer contract as well. Either a promising rookie or someone who is a vet on a 3-4 year deal.
Aaron afflalo might be the guy, but Denver got so many centers already lol, unless its a 3 team trade

I'd be down for a Bosh/Sanders frontcourt. Thing is, I don't see a situation where we make it happen. Christmas came and went and all we got were a bunch of Ls.

Who would say no? If Riley can get it done then sure but I'm not overly confident in the assets.

I'd love it but they are in the East in the same 6-8 seed range as us. I don't see any reason why they'd help us out like that.

Saudades.

I highly doubt that, and they will have to give up a lot more than dion waiters to make the contract match.

Re: Should the Heat Explore Larry Sanders
Am I crazy to think that we can turn Whiteside into a lesser version of Sanders for a fraction of the cost, and with a much better attitude? Sanders has had one good season, and it's not like he has any major abilities offensively either. I'm not now, nor was I ever too crazy about him.
I'd much rather try to trade/spend for a guard.

Re: Should the Heat Explore Larry Sanders
He is not a very good player statistically so he must be a good defender to win that contract he got.
This trade is acceptable per ESPN trade machine.
which means that both teams would love to do it too.
According to ESPN trade machine, it will be a lose-lose trade for both teams

Re: Should the Heat Explore Larry Sanders
Mario can play SG... see now if the Heat kept with the whole Napier-Rio back court with Rio at SG they might have been interested.
Rio, Birdman, cash, 2nd round pick might have worked...
But that makes the Bucks even more dangerous. **** they could even knock us out. Thing with Rio he would kill us on another team, yet he can't do **** right now with us, smh. We need November Rio back lol.

Re: Should the Heat Explore Larry Sanders
duh!!!!!!
but as another poster mentioned id be hesitant to trade deng. not saying i wouldnt trade deng for sanders straight up but its something id have to consider very deeply. if somehow birdman can be packaged with one of the trashbins that are either cole/chalmers and a future picl then i do the trade in a heartbeat
sanders/whiteside/hamilton
bosh/williams/haslem
deng/granger
wade/ennis/dawkins
chalmers/napier
sign a guy like quincy miller from a dleague squad as a reserve wing
reserve : mcrobets

sanders character issues aside if you were gm of the bucks would you trade him for 35 year old birdman and one of the two worst point guards in the league??? only way a trade like that happens is if a pick is involvedN82WILL wrote:a pick for freakin Larry Sanders, when will people learn.
