2015 draft discussion

might as well get this up, we have the 11th pick this year
here is icness' 3.0 mock draft (from dec. 19th)
http://football.realgm.com/analysis/257 ... Version-30

11. Minnesota Vikings: T.J. Clemmings, T, Pittsburgh. Most former basketball players move to defensive end, but Clemmings opted to protect the passer instead of attacking them. Good move. He’s got outstanding balance and movement skills but also excellent power for the position. He might not be most people’s top tackle yet, but wait until he tears up the workout season. Minnesota must replace Matt Kalil, who has the yips in pass protection like Steve Sax throwing to first base.

other picks:
43. Minnesota Vikings: Denzel Perryman, LB, Miami FL
75. Minnesota Vikings: David Cobb, RB, Minnesota

I can't say that's an exciting pick, an offensive lineman that I've never heard of.

I know this is a long shot, but unless we can get a great prospect and still fill the other positions we need, I say we just keep him.

i think they'll keep him, give him another year and go from there - use this draft to fill up holes elsewhere

Some experts have Kevin White higher than both Parker and Cooper! Also, I have read Dorial Green-Beckham compared to Megatron. You know, minus the attitude. I don't want him cause we don't need the off the field stuff, but it's interesting that Kevjn White has been ranked number 1 on some peoples boards.

I think White might have better physical tools than Cooper and Parker. Cooper's physical tools aren't spectacular but he still seems to dominate. Of course both Cooper and Parker have played with Teddy before, which makes things interesting.

True, I think Cooper and Parker are the safest bets. The route running is the most important and both still have great physical tools. Parker has been compared to Keenan Allen and I'd be fine with that. Hopefully better though.

Durin Carter working out for the Vikings tomorrow. I'd take him and draft a tackle in the first round or best available rather than a wideout. But realistically, he might not be that good. Not really sure.

I don't think Duron Carter affects the draft. I think he was in the Vikings camp last year and they cut him. I personally love Cooper, if he's there I hope the Vikings take him. Parker and White I'm less familiar with.

Ya, I think I'm getting excited because of the last name. Although if we get him, id feel more comfortable drafting a tackle or guard in the first round and possibly even the second (back to back). But I think a wideout is probably the number 1 priority given the position we are in the draft.

One of the issues with our offensive line this season was that 3 of our starters were out a big chunk of the season. We still probably could use some help, but just being healthy could do us a lot of good.

I'd take an ILB to replace Greenway first, but there doesn't appear to be anyone worth taking with our pick at this time. I think taking the best OT prospect would make the most sense, or Cooper if he's there.

For first round prospects I have them ranked in this order:
1. Cooper
2. scherrf
3. Thompson
4. Collins
5. Parker

Your list looks good to me. The only slight issue I have is that Scherff didn't look very good against the Gophers and not worth a top 10 pick, but it's not really fair to evaluate a guy based on 1 game.
Which Collins are you referring to, the S from Alabama or the OL from LSU?

scherff is pretty good, i'm not sure he's a top ten pick either, especially since from what i've seen is that he'd be a better guard than tackle

I meant Collins from LSU but I'd also take the safety from Alabama. Charlie Johnson has got to go...we need a left guard. I think either Scherff or Collins can play it and hopefully Kalil is rejuvenated. But if either of those two aren't worth the pick, just take BPA, which is probably a tackle/guard, wide receiver, safety, or linebacker.

i don't know about taking a wr that early in the first round, unless he's a sure-fire megatron

He's not Megatron, but I'd take Cooper in a second. We have a lot of different needs and offensive weapons is one of them. Cooper would most likely be the best player available.
