He has 3 years left on his deal (after this one). Even if the Kings implode this year (one can argue they already have) they have a better chance of being a good team by convincing Cousins to like them over the next 3 years than they do in taking back a substandard package. Unlike the Love situation, time is definitely on the Kings' side. Plus the fact that Cousins not only behaved, but excelled, with Malone puts a lot of the old questions to rest--meaning more teams will be interested because the question won't be "is it possible to get him to realize his potential" it'll be "how can we get him back to where he was".

This is the first situation where I would totally support a player forcing his way out of an organization. I disagree that time is on the Kings side. Do you think they'll be a contender by the end of Cousins contract let alone a playoff team? The guy is gone and they'll have to start from scratch again, the decisions this FO made this year have set back the franchise a solid 5-7 years in my opinion. Cousins forcing his way out would actually help the Kings if you keep the mindset that he's gone in 3 years anyway.

Considering many teams would come in with better offers, I'm going to assume that the Kings say no.

If the Lakers got a top 5 pick, added Julius, and then Houston's first... that's a significantly better offer.
