I meant -lite in terms of playing styles, basketball impact and ceilings. If you meant lite by the stats they put up as well as their measurements then by all means you are correct. I just feel like there are more apt comparisons for Wesley J out there then Batum.

Edit: I agree that both Wes and Batum share traits, but by calling Wes Batum-lite, you essentially takeout a massive part of Batum's role that gave it a great deal of its value. I don't know if that's Batum-Lite as much as just a 3-D guy. But terminology is of lesser importance, I'm more interested in what you think Wesley J can become.

Sounds like somebody who has been watching Batum the last 3 years and not the last 5.

Like I said, it doesn't matter whether or not the comparison is a hundred percent accurate. If you think Wesley Johnson is just going to end up as a 3-D guy who defends with length, that's fine. I feel like Wes could have some potential as a good small ball four as well by making and impact on rim protection and on the glass. I think it would be fine to stick him on stretch fours without a true post game.

It's really been simple with Wes, at the start of the season he was still programmed in "MDA mode". He was shooting shooting shots that to me seemed uncomfortable for him in Scott's offense. Then in November you slowly started to see him adjusting, now he's letting spots in the offense determine where his shots will come from.

I like Wes and hopefully we can bring him back at a reasonable dollar

LOS ANGELES -- Lakers starting forward Wesley Johnson left Sunday's 88-87 win over the Indiana Pacers with a strained right hip flexor that will also sideline him for Monday's game at Portland.

"I'm not going to speculate on how many games or how much time he's going to be out right now," Lakers coach Byron Scott said. "But just talking to our trainer, it didn't look good. We'll just have to wait and see and hope for the best."

The 6-foot-7 Johnson, a former fourth overall pick out of Syracuse in 2010, went scoreless in 12 minutes against the Pacers and is scheduled to have an MRI in Los Angeles on Monday.

Johnson, now in his fifth NBA season, entered Monday averaging 9.7 points and 3.8 rebounds.

That sucks but good court time for Ellington, Kelly and possibly Clarkson if Young moves to SF on the 2nd unit. We should also be able to play a bit of Lin & Price together in the back court.

Sucks, bad news. I was enjoying watching Wes gain more confidence lately in his playing and becoming more of a factor.

I guess you mean 1st unit?

It's good that Kelly's back.

I assume it'd be

Price/Kobe/Ellington/Hill/Davis
Lin/Clarkson/Young/Boozer/Sacre

If Kobe sits, move Ellington to SG and insert Kelly at SF in the first unit.

I see, but I thought Young was already the SF on the 2nd unit?

Yeah, I think that's a common misconception (that Young plays SG, when he's listed as SF on sites like 82games).

But a wing's a wing I guess.

Also looks like Kob's out tonight so rumor has it Kelly will play SF (not sure if starting, though).

That's happening tonight. Kelly is in the first unit. But, Kelly is coming off of injury. I think he should have limited minutes, starter or not. Boozer should come in for him early and Booze should play heavy minutes.

while I admit I haven't watch a lot of games this year, I'd still can say without a shadow of a doubt that I was severely wrong about Wes. I thought signing him back couldn't hurt and he still had some potential but nope, dude still looks like a dleaguer....if it wasn't for his athletic abilities he would've been long gone out of this league

Actually, I thought he looked much better in the games running up to his injury. He had some really bad outings but seemed to turn it around.

I don't see anything new from him nor any improvements on his overall game, you can't honesty tell me we can't find a top end dleague player of similar sz/build like Wes would could easily replicate what he's doing now? I'm not saying he's terrible, I just don't see any difference from what he's doing from last year to this year, of course I can't argue besides that point as he's making peanuts per se but does guy ever work on his game at all?
