I actually think New York might even give you Dalembert and Smith for nothing at all, just to take on Smith's contract next year for your Hayward non guaranteed or an exception. Maybe you could then flip Waiters for Mosgov or Kofous in a 3 way deal or even a late round pick and you would have a couple decent centers and a 6th man.

There are still a lot of guys out there that could fill this role too. Jermaine O"Neal, Blatche, Okafor etc and gunners like Jordan Crawford if you wanted to trade away Waiters.

So what do you think you are going to trading it for?

The only teams that are going to want Haywood's contract are probably going to be trying to get rid of overpaid players or some team trying to tank and getting rid of players like Thaddous Young or something like that.

Say what you will about JR Smith but I don't think is that grossly overpaid at 6 million, with only one more year left on his contract when you got guys like Meeks and Bradley making 6 to 8 million, Ben Gordon at 4 etc.

You're guys said you needed bench scoring if you got rid of Waiters which is basically your trade chip if you want a starting quality center like Mosgov and he would provide that and was just 6th man of the year 2 seasons ago.

Last year he was healing from knee surgery but looked great at the end of the year and this year the triangle is a mess for a player like him trying to turn him into Ron Harper. I tend to think he probably still is a pretty good 6th man scorer in the right system.

If you could get someone like Mosgov, Dalembert to back him up and JR Smith for Waiters and a exception I don't know how you aren't better and at least would have a chance. I'd prefer to sign Jermain O'Neal or Okafor but who knows how much they even have left at this point. They could be as useless as Haywood.

Dally is only slightly better than Haywood at this point. I'd grab a 7 footer out of the D League before I gave anything of serious value for him. No one is taking back JR Smith. The Knicks need to J. Smith approach to that guy.

I think Waiters needs to have the ball in his hands to be effective. he needs to go to a team who needs a scoring PG. I think he'll shine in that situation. He believes this and I think he's right. But Cleveland definitely is not the place for him long term. Get what you can for him cause as soon as he's a free agent, he's out.

You gave up Waiters, not some expiring contract you have to wait until summer to use. You guys thought you were going to get a lot more haul for Waiters especially of all your trade pieces in play and scoffed at the idea of Smith.

You may not like the trade but personally if it's Jr Smith and Dalembert I think your team is a lot better off, and both are on reasonable contracts.

Here is your quote. You said you wouldn't even trade Waiters for Mosgov and later because it would hurt your depth, other posters said you wouldn't do it for Koufous either.

That's actually were I thought about JR Smith and why don't you try to get him to replace Waiters and get Dalembert as well. That's pretty much exactly what your front office did.

No, now it's Waiters for JR Smith and Shumpert and you just let the knicks waive Dalembert. That's even more stupid unless you sign him for a bargin or something pre arranged like that. Dalembert would fit well on your team and his defensive per 36's are as strong as ever.

No clue why you wouldn't try to get him in there too given your other options, clearly they would have given him away just like I expected. Hell the Knicks gave all three of JR Smith, Dalembert and Shumpert away for for nothing but salary relief yet all you got out of it was gift wrapping Waiters to the Thunder who could see again for nothing. Seriously why did they need to be involved, find some scrub team to help out.

They got another 1st too, which should help them get Mozgov or another C. If Shump ends up being a rotation player for them it's better than giving up Waiters for Mozgov. JR could have value to another team as an expiring at the deadline next season. They aren't going to have cap space for the foreseeable future so the more assets they can get the better.

Yeah, I saw that 1st later which they used to get Mosgov who I suggested they trade Waiters for. That's essentially how it played out. I think they did well to turn Waiters and the Memphis late 1st to Mosgov, JR Smith and Shumpert. JR smith has a player option on contract next year he probably opts into. It's still pretty reasonable, and so is Mosgovs as well. I think they all fit their roles better too. Ended up being good for everyone IMO.
