maybe we dumped OKC from the trade.

maybe we are trying to find a 3 team for waiters for a pick

Kind of simple to evaluate the trade... would you rather:

- Have JR making $6.5MM next year and an extra late 1st round to mid 2nd round pick that we traded for Shump (I suspect his value is closer to mid 2nd round that late first).

or

- Not pay JR Smith next year.

I will take the 2nd option easy.

I'm a SG with 39 FG% shooting for my career. Who am I? Iman Shumpert, that's who.

Cant say im in love with the deal right now. Since this is clearly done to create cap space, its only fair to judge this trade until the off-season.

Jr is crap, im glad hes gone, but i do like Iman and believe he is a good role player on the right team. He is a RFA, so I understand why we traded him.

Ultimately Shump's lack of progress was the Knicks' fault as much as his own -- I think with Bron by his side we'll see Shump really do well. I predict he'll be a good player for them, a very good role player at least. But his value had shrunken.

As far as realpolitik, the deal is good. $6M more of cap room and also no Shump cap hold to worry about.

or option 3 - ask for a 2016 pick and if you need cap space you can use it to move JR. If you don't, now you have an extra trade chip either to package with JR's expiring on in the following draft. It's creating options and remaining flexible.

no way OKC gets waiters and just gives up Lance Thomas...doesn't work cap wise

a pick or something else would be needed.

Don't post Broussard tweets. He's worse than Tommy Dee.
