The problem is expirings aren't as attractive as they use to be. With the cap likely increasing its just not attractive anymore. Teams are less likely to give up draft picks anymore. Draft picks are the most attractive asset in today's NBA.

Or what if the Knicks attach an asset of there own with Stat to bring in a haul? It's the only logical option. Once again who is trading for a hobbled Melo? 20 plus million for a player who may need surgery. Makes no sense at all in the real world.

That is the last thing we need to do.

Dalembert is 33 and not going to be part of any teams future. I would not be surprised if this is not his last hurrah. The Knicks are expected to waive Dalembert due to not being able to trade him. McDonough has repeatedly said that any additions would be ones that could grow with the current group. Dalembert would be a horrible fit and would not make it past this summer, if that far. While Plumlee has struggled this year he appears to be getting it in recent days and legitimately could fill a role for this team now and in the future. As long as Plumlee puts out full effort on defense and rebounding, I think we are fine. We currently have 2 of the best centers we have had in recent memory, yeah I said it. That is if you don't count Amare as a center. Gortat was OK but I like the twosome we have now and look forward to watching them grow.

SCOURCES, lol, probably everyone who tweeted before you Broussard!

@Chris_Broussard: Sources: 3-way trade n progress. OKC, NYK, Cavs.Reggie Jackson to NYK, Shumpert/JrSmith to Cavs, waiters to OKC.., still developing...

Btw that tweet was sent out at 5:56 pm

This was woj 6th tweet about the trade which was at 5:45 pm

@WojYahooNBA: Along with Waiters, New York is sending Iman Shumpert to the Cavaliers, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

Some have just got to give up the love affairs and move to improve. Worse case is Deng leaves and 13 mill drops off the books next yr. The above squad is much more appealing to me and is perhaps just a simple PF/C signing/trade (JO?) away from bothering the league.

The way I was looking at it was acquiring assets, while really not losing too much, and I was responding to a proposed trade. :D I like IT, but I really liked the idea where we always had either Bledsoe or Dragic on the court at all times, like we had the whole time Bledsoe was healthy last season. Plus we have enough guards to fill in the gaps. But I could understand the team maybe wanting to wait until they know for sure they have Dragic locked up before moving IT, if they even want to move him.

As for minutes, I wasn't too worried about I right now.

However, I'm completely fine with staying the course, and convincing JO to come out of retirement/watching games, since I brought that up a while ago.

You do realize that JO's name has been linked to REAL contenders like Dallas/HOU/LAC right? He is not coming to the Suns.

Maybe; however, when I have been passionate about getting a player, we usually acquire them. Unfortunately it usually happens a year after I suggest it. :-)

Knicks getting a rookie Alex Kirk or something like that and a first. Damn they made out.

Edit : nevermind

@WojYahooNBA: Misinterpreted where OKC's sending its protected first-round pick: It's headed to Cleveland, not New York. Apologize.

Big difference is he is not signed for five more years. Salary is out the door at end of year.

My guess is Phil Jackson was not giving away Shumpert without also getting rid of Smith. Shumpert on the Cacvs is actually a pretty good fit. Brings defense.

But Smith is just a disaster waiting to happen on a team where he won't play and chuck much.

So Cleveland give up on Waiters for a late 1st + even more chucker JR Smith + Shumpert? YEY

Actually, I think Shumpert is a really good fit.

I'm not sure what Cleveland's gameplan is right now. It would be so messed up if KLove and Lebron left after this season. I wouldn't be so surprised if Love left though, sometimes the grass isn't always greener.

I always saw Love as an all star role player, not a franchise player or someone who would play well with a top 5 player in the league. I think he would be better off on a team that plays TEAM ball like the Pacers, or Hawks, or I dunno, the Suns...

Also, ESPN has JR Smith as the face of this trade?! Seriously?

What is happening in Cleveland is what happens when there is nobody willing to stand up to LeBron.

He has undermined Blatt and the others have followed.

in fairness to Love though... the Cavs back court in tonights game is no way near starter level for the NBA... 76ers actually have productive front court... so Love did OK by scoring and rebounding... but the Cavs back court tonight... well..

Yeah, Love is kinda like Big Al... More concerned about his numbers than actually with team play.
This amazed me when he chose to be a role player for Bron and Irving. He isnt that type of guy at all...

Im sure there are plenty of teams. When Melo is 100%, he is a top 10 player (easy). He hasnt been 100% this season, but still has been a great player. There would be more than a few teams that would be ok with Melo sitting out the next few months and getting surgery and coming back full next season.

We have the best medical/training staff in the league. If our doctors took a look at him and said they could fix him, i would take the chance. A team like the Lakers (who are already tanking so we dont get their top 5 protected pick) would be fine taking on Melo just to sit him for the season. Melo would help to take a lot of pressure off of Kobe next season, possibly extending his career.
