Jerry

Jerry always gets killed for his personnel decisions. I mostly kill him for being an idiot myself. While the latter continued with the pictures and the stupid comments, the former has continued to turn around. I said this the last couple of years and think it's even more true this year. The drafts have been very good and the FA signings, while not flashy, have been solid. An Offensive Guard in the first round after taking a Center? From Jerry? My personal opinion is that Jerry has no say in it other than stamping the decisions someone else makes, but at least he is staying out of the evaluation part of it and letting the people that know what they are doing do their jobs. Yes, we all know that Jerry wanted Manziel, but he allowed Stephen to pull the card out of his hand (literally or figuratively). Jerry let a superstar in Ware go and our best defensive player in Hatcher go. That in and of itself is a change. So while watching him speak about the team still makes me cringe he is finally acting like an owner or a VP type and the final decisions that are made (whether his doing or someone else's) have been very good.

The other thing Jerry deserves credit for is Garrett. The easy move, and most wanted it, was to fire Garrett. Jerry did the tough thing and stuck with him and it has paid off. For years I have said I think Garrett is one of the best coaches in the league 6 days a week and has been horrible with in game changes and time management on Sundays. His calm, patient, "do things the right way" attitude and desire to bring in Football players over stars and guys with heart over guys with pedigrees has been great for this team that was so deep into "Camp Cupcake" that it took a while to reverse. But his at times clueless, deer in the headlights game management offset all of this. This year he has changed or maybe just grown confident. The panic abandoning of the running game is gone. The balls to run the ball in tough spots (Murray's TD) and go for it on 4th down when needed (like this week) has shown how much he has grown IMO. Yes, a lot of the play calling is Linehan, but Garrett still controls the big picture and nothing is going to happen that he isn't in favor of.

If we continue to draft the way we have and bring in the type of player we have and are able to keep our key players I think the future is very bright and I think Jerry is deserving of some of the credit.

I agree, Jerry deserves some credit, but mostly for not being the same football idiot as years past. I think Jerry the summer before last year was his same ole idiot with his Romo friendly platform. BUT THIS YEAR has been special. Hats off to Jerry at last for that.

"I have said I think Garrett is one of the best coaches in the league 6 days a week and has been horrible with in game changes and time management on Sundays"

popular opinion I suppose but not accurate in my opinion. Sure there was Detroit and Arizona but it was hardly a Sunday norm to me.
I really think Jason has much to do with Jerry finally giving in this year. I think the biggest thing jerry learned is to get outta the way and let professional do what they are paid to do, and he still gets some credit his ego so desperately requires. That has been a blessing for all Cowboy fans.

I said it two weeks ago and still think it today. Jason Garrett should be the NFL coach of the year and IMO, that has nothing to do with Jerry other than not firing him and becoming a Danny Boy Synder type with regards to coaches.

My question is what happens if they would have went 8-8 or worse. Go back to the luncheon before the season, jerry spoke and said the team was facing an uphill battle or something to that affect. I' really don't think in his wildest dreams he saw this coming.

Correct...but I think Garrett knew the kinda football team it took to win in Dallas.
I think a lot changed for the better when Garrett was allowed to hire his football coaches.
