2011: draft JV with the 4th pick
2012: draft one of Barnes/Drummond at 4 if MKG/Beal are off the board.
2013: trade the top pick as no one in that draft is worthy of being #1.
Love trade: No way we should trade Wiggins for Love as no team has ever gotten such a high return for a disgruntled "star" player on an expiring contract. The majority of us were fine waiting till the deadline to see if Minny would give in and take a package of Waiters/Tristan/Bennett/picks.

BMAC, you've been around for all these disscusions the past few years. Am I lying about any of this?

Wait, remind us how many NBA teams offered you a job to GM their team? oh i thought so.
whats funny is your using hindsight for all that "insight"

you ignore JV wasn't going to sign here
you ignore Barnes wasn't considered very athletic and he still has yet to live up to the hype
you forget Drummond had a god awful year at UConn
2013 has produced some good guys, no superstarts but good 2nd tier guys.
Kevin Love put up the 3rd highest PER and one of the best years in NBA history last year, while Wiggins has been a bust to this point. in fact Wiggins rookie year isn't even as good as Waiters rookie year to this point.

Except it is not hindsight when the vast majority of the board agreed on those choices well BEFORE the drafts and trades happened. Go look up the draft threads and the Love trade thread before you insult anyone or call it hindsight.

I'll say this - unless a player is a flat out bust, it's a mistake to judge young players until after their fourth year in the league. There is a reason the owners set up the CBA and RFA the way they did in the one-and-done era. Jimmy Butler looked no better than a defensive specialist last year. Barnes looked like his rookie performance in the playoffs was a fluke. Zeller and Karasev both look better since getting traded.

I'd pick up Delambert. He should be good enough for spot minutes. Other than that, the roster looks very good. A lot more rounded off than before. If there's a chance of trading Haywood for a decent backup PG, Cavs should also try that. Only real weaknesses in the roster right now are the lack of another center and a backup PG.

Fart would we have gotten the same high picks with better players from 2011, 2012 and 2013 as time moved forward?

No we would not have

I like ourselves at this point a lot more then I did a couple of weeks ago. We are still weak at center. I wish TT had some touch but all be can do is rebuild when he's playing against weaker players.

I just hope Blatt gets his rotation fixed soon with all the players health.

The biggest question I have is when Shump get back will the starting line up be:

Kyrie
JR or Shump
LBJ
Love
TM

I think being this deep would allow us to always have two of these guys on the floor at the same time based on who the other three are, for example:

If TT, and Delly are on the floor we need more scoring so JR, LBJ and Miller could be out there with LBJ at the 4. That is possible.

or if Kyrie and Love are still on the floor the dee maybe too weak so Shump, Miller, anyone could play center.

I guess my point is we have good vets, a good starting line up and I think we will get better before June.

I just hope people will listen to Blatt and not show a lack of interest.

Shump will start when he's back and healthy.

The thing I am looking forward to the most is getting Delly back to the role he should be playing. He has been asked to do way too much the last few weeks and it's hurting us. Id like to see LeBron playing the Point Foward position in the game when Kyrie is getting a breather and then surrounding him with Marion and either Shump or JR at the other Guard and Forward spot. I just dont see how team's can matchup with that sort of size.

Easily, other teams actually play with intensity. Also we can't cover fast guards, or any guards for that matter.

If they can get completely healthy, this is a pretty balanced roster. As others have mentioned though, its a shame how many assets were burned to get to this point. If we could turn back the clock to the moment LeBron's letter was posted I think this roster, and the future would be much much different that it looks today.

We still have a first, the MLE, and Haywood's deal to improve the depth. There's still some pretty big questions with Shumpert (will he be inspired to defend again?) and JR (how does he react when LeBron is back and his shot opportunities dry up?) though.

Shump is really the key to the deal. If he is healthy and locked in, our starting unit is as good as anyone's in the league. Marion can move to the bench where we will actually have a competent wing defender for a change. With the right rotations either LBJ or Kyrie will always be on the court and Delly can go back to spot duty for a hustle guy.

Anyone expecting much from JR is just setting themselves up for disappointment. He's had three games where he's gotten more shots than he can expect during the rest of the season and he was efficient for one of them. This is probably the high water mark of his time with the Cavs.
