I put this in the trade thread but seems on topic here.

Boston gets:
TRob, Prince, Calathes
2019 MEM 1st
2015 Portland 1st

Portland gets:
Kofos

Memphis gets:
Green and Wright

Boston gets all Expirings, picks, and a chance to see TRob. Memphis gets their wing and a nice role big to give insurance for ZBo. Portland gets a legit guy to put behind Lopez that is far better than Freeland or Myers...

Don't we have to wait two months to trade Wright?

We can trade Wright by himself at any time, but yeah. If we are including him in a trade with Green (or anyone else), we have to wait until Feb. 17.

Anyway, this deal would be pretty freaking awesome. T-Rob would only add to our logjam up front, but hey; the dude is young and has talent. If you can get him and picks for Green, you do it and sort out the depth issue later.

Other thing with Deng (maybe Smitty or SMT or someone can weigh in on this) is that Memphis would be limited in how much they could re-sign him for if he opts out since they wouldn't have his Bird Rights (since he just signed in MIA as a FA). With Green they would have rights.

So who knows.

Deng's got a 15% trade kicker as well. Although Miami would pay that bonus to Deng, it would technically count against Memphis' team salary. Memphis is ~1.14mil from the tax line, so, if they wanted to stay below it, they'd need to send out at least ~10.03mil to get Deng. I.E. a 3-for-1, or Miami would have to be willing to eat Carter or Pondexter.

Though, maybe Memphis doesn't care about staying below the tax at that point. That's a good team.

With regards to Bird Rights, this is just assumption, but I have to imagine Early Bird rights would be sufficient in Deng's case. Early Bird allows you to resign a player for up to 175% of his salary in the previous season (~10.15mil in 2015/2016 * 1.75 = ~17.76), with the 7.5% raises, up to 4 years. He'll be 31 by the start of the 2016/2017 season. I don't know if much more than that will be in the cards at that point.

Of course, if the cap blows up as much in 2016/2017 as some are predicting (87mil+), then a full 35% max pushes 30mil in the 1st year. Not that Deng would command that, but there's a lot of ground between 17.75mil and 30mil (and even more between something like 4/80 and 4/130).

Edit: Ooh. I didn't see the player option for 2015/2016. Yeah, if he opts out, you're at strictly Non-Bird. 120% of his previous salary. I.E. bye-bye Luol.

I'd do that in a heartbeat. Love Lamb.

With KD up for free agency this summer and their playoff chances in serious jeopardy, OKC may just be desperate enough to pull the trigger. But, as you said, the Thunder aren't a team known for making big splashes. Wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the Waiters deal is the only one they make between now and the deadline.

Maimi is in a good postion to actualy move Deng and get Green. If Green isnt working out, they dont have to extend him. In Miami , he would be on the court as a starter and truley be a 3rd scoring option behind Bosh and Wade. This is a great role for him.

Also, gun to my head and Memphis wants Sully instead of Wright and no Calathes (who was just a filler anyways), but everything else is the same? I probably say screw it and pull the trigger. Boils down to swapping TRob (in shape, underutilized because Aldridge refuses to play 5) for Sully (overweight and probably over-utilized) and Green for 2 picks, tho Portland is basically a guaranteed 2nd at this point.

On another site I saw a Wiz fan throw out the idea of an Otto + Webster package for Green. Not up on my Otto Porter Jr stuff but getting a 21-year old former #3 overall pick at least sounds interesting in theory.

Anyway, at this point, I'd happily do Green for Prince+Adams and call it a day. Really, you're basically getting your late 1st for Green anyway (Adams being #22 in 2014), only you get a headstart on developing that player. Buyout Prince or "Bogans" him.

Most importantly, you get 33.1mpg back to redistribute as you like.

Just got to find resolutions for Bass and Nelson at that point.

Gotta disagree heavily here. If Memphis asks for Sully, that's when Ainge should hang up the phone.

Damn it...looks we had a chance to get two 1st rounders, one from CLE and other from MEM, but CLE decided for Mozgov.

I like Adams, too. I think he has a shot to develop into a solid scorer. He definitely showed he could do it in college.

Yes. We. Will. (Settle for less).

P.S. Love the idea of getting Jordan Adams. He's going to be a player. Loved him at draft time.

I'm just glad that it looks like Green is definitely out of here. He has run his course as a Celtic. Time to cut the cord and keep moving forward with the rebuild.

I'd be shocked if the Grizz give up a player like Adams in any deal. Especially a player like Green who can opt out after the season.

If Ainge pulls that deal, it will be similar to the Tyler Zeller robbery.

The Grizzlies are looking for a player to put them over the top this season, so them trading Adams for Green wouldn't be a shocker. Don't forget that Gasol is a free agent this summer, and while it looks like he wants to stay in Memphis, you never know. They might as well try and go all out this year.

Are these 2 impossible ?

Adams + Prince for Green

1st round pick in 2019 + Prince for Green

Ainge wins IMO on both of those trades. I don't think Memphis would do that, or would they ?

I wonder if there is a team where Green would let it be known he would opt in to that last year of his deal? could possibly fetch more in a deal if that were the case.
