I am perfectly fine with trading for Cousins - He's a dominant big as a scorer/rebounder who wants to win, but there are a couple of on-court issues with him - his turnover rate is real high, and his foul rate is real high. They've both gotten worse this season. His defensive +/- is outstanding this season, but I think he's no better than an average defender. In his defense on those negatives, he doesn't have a lot of good dependable teammates, and he doesn't have a John Wall getting him easy buckets - they let his PG (Isaiah Thomas) go.

That was a helluva shot by Walker. Well defensed by Holiday...just a terrific play.

I feel like the Hawks could be in "Moneyball 2" with Kyle Korver playing the part of Scott Hatteberg.

Edited to add: And of course, Ashton Kutcher would play Korver.

And like the Moneyball As, the Hawks will do nothing come playoff time once teams can take away their 3 point shooting.

Not sure about that. They took Indy to 7 games last season without Horford even though they shot only 34% from 3.

Now I can go back to my preseason predictions. The Pistons could be a playoff team in the East by the time the season ends. :D

LOL

It's only a matter of time before they're forced to trade him at pennies on the dollar. I just hope the Wizards can field an offer. It would be amazing if we could trade Porter + Gortat + future 1sts for Cousins while simultaneously signing Durant as a free agent. How's THAT for a Big Three: Wall, Durant and Cousins, plus Beal as a 4th option! :o I could play power forward for that unit and we'd still win.

Keep Otto. Be greedy.

There's no way to get both Durant and Cousins IMO.

There is a way to just add Cousins to Nene or Gortat and to keep Porter and Bradley Beal.

Good lord, the NBA scheduling of nationally televised games is a **** disgrace.

Every week NBA fans are getting dreck like the Heat and Knicks force fed, while three of the four best teams in the East barely get any exposure. Sickening, I hope the NBA revisits their scheduling with the new TV deals in place.

I don't think TNT was too happy to be showing a Knicks game last night.

This is why I think the NBA needs to do a 2 week flex scheduling thing in January. At this point, you're almost halfway through the season, you know which teams stink...flex them out and put more competitive games in.

Whiteside with a double-double today, 23 points 16 rebounds. I wish we had a forward-thinking GM.

Yep, that was an interesting game by Whiteside. I hope he doesn't start doing that regularly... regress back to the mean very quick please. It allows them to move Bosh to PF with Whiteside and Anderson playing C.

*yawn*

Let's not make the Whiteside move into something it's not. Miami didn't foresee this, they lucked out after scrambling to replace an injured Bosh. Remember - their original plan was for Bosh to play most of the C minutes because they commited the MLE to McBob. If things had gone according to plan, Whiteside would still be toiling anonymously in the D-league.

Hey, good for him that he's trying to take advantage of the opportunity. But in context it is not some genius "forward thinking" move on the Heat's part where they somehow caught the rest of the league asleep because they knew something everybody else didn't.

He was already pretty productive in his limited minutes (5.3 ppg,4.9 rpg, 1.8 bpg in 13.2 mpg, .625 ts% even with a horrible ft%). That guy was completely off my radar, and he's signed at the minimum on a non-guaranteed contract.

Stats over 28 NBA games suggest he will keep it up.

I don't agree Rico, if it had been Ernie in Miami, he would have looking around for the nearest washed-up Vet to sign. Jason Collins would have been called. Would you rather have Kevin @ $3.8 mil or Whiteside for under a million...with upside left.

Let's not anoint Whiteside as the second-coming of Hakeem Olajuwon just yet. He has played a total of 269 minutes in 3 years. He's been exclusively a garbage time player until 6 games ago. During those 6 games of semi-meaningful minutes, Miami has gone 1-5 and Whiteside has an on/off differential of approximately -10 per 48 minutes. And that's with nobody scouting him.
