Is that by design? Or it's when they aren't on the same page? You'll see it a few times a game.

Isn't it so the player guarding Paul doesn't know which way Paul will go and also so Paul has more options so he can choose which of the rotation defenders he can target.

Good point. But the Clippers are honestly the only team I know that does that. Obviously, I don't watch every game outside of Clipper games, but I do watch a lot of non-Clipper games when I can.

Its definitely by design. Nearly every team in the NBA runs this sets, its called HORNS.

It pulls the defense up, which allows a pick and roll and pop at the same time. Considering we have a lethal shooter like Redick on the baseline wing as well, it allows plenty of options just out of the base set for him to come off screens, or set a screen and flare out.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

I just wish Blake didn't slip 95% of screens for long 2s. I'm not talking about just these plays either

The purpose of screens is to limit the opponent's chances of drawing a turnover as they score the basket (steal, offensive foul, natural turnover). Griffin is the one who sets the most screens for the Clippers. From my Preventions metric, after 31 games, Griffin sets about 9 screens per game. Jordan is behind him with 6.7 per game.

Overall, Griffin and Jordan combine to set 15.7 screens per game. (The team as a whole sets 21.5 screens per game. This includes Chris Paul's, J.J. Redick's and Jamal Crawford's screens)
