You think he owns one of those million dollar trailers in a trailer park that I heard about years back?

LBJ In Miami For Rehab Due To Warm Weather, Cold Weather Having Negative Impact On His Body

"That was by design," Cavs coach David Blatt said Wednesday. "He hasn't been around per orders of the doctor."

James spent part of that time doing rehab at the Cavs' practice facility but also spent time this week in Miami. Spending time in the warmer weather was deemed healthy for James' back. James said he was having rehab sessions 3-4 times a day during the last week.

He said the weather is part of the reason he is going on the Cavs' western road trip that begins Friday in Golden State even though he could be out another week.

I'm sure this will get merged...but I had to make this a separate thread for now.

Don't see a problem. LBJ can GM from anywhere, may as well be in nice weather.

Is he having another ESPN special to take his rehab to South Beach?

I thought the arena in Cleveland was heated. Can't Lebron sit for 3 hours in a heated stadium?

Does he need to get away from Blatt so badly?

The season is too long for Lebron. He said it himself. He deserves a midseason vacation because he is the King. Kings should not have to work hard for it.

This whole board would riot.

Back on topic, I thought it was the heat (pun intended) that gave Lebron the cramps. Now the heat is good for him? LOL.
After Rose broke both his knees, I gave up on the hope that we'd make it to the NBA Finals again. It will probably be decades before we see another championship. Hello Treadmill, here we come.

LeBron James takes infinitely more **** for his actions than Derrick Rose does, so I'd imagine it wouldn't be a big deal if Rose did it either. Its not at all odd to me that a doctor might suggest warmer weather conditions are more ideal for nursing a back issue.

It would be a huge deal if Rose dipped to Miami for a week to "rehab" in the warm weather....especially during the middle of a losing streak. I could see if he was going to see a specialist in Miami...but just to get out of the cold weather? That is called a vacation.

Technically, the warm weather would be good for everyone (athlete or not) with knee, back, joint, and muscle pains. How come every other athlete in every other sport from cold weather cities do not jet off during the season to Miami to rehab? Or Vegas? Or Cancun? Or Turks and Caicos?

I'm curious to know how he is rehabbing anyway. Did someone from the Cavs medical staff go with him (instead of being with the team)? Is he rehabbing outdoors or something?

Why? The only reason I can think of is because of things that already happened, which people would use to color the meaning of this otherwise innocuous thing.

Because during a season players rehab with their teams....even players of cold weather teams.

NBA franchise pay their players a hefty salary, so the players can usually afford to turn the heat up in the homes. It isn't like these guys are rehabbing at the local YMCA. Nor are they your poor working stiff who's can't really afford to turn the heat up, and is walking to the bus stop everday in cold weather so they can transfer over to the L. Or some some constuction or powerline worker that spends his entire day outside.

I can't think of any other player to go to Miami to rehab simply to get out of the cold weather. If he was going to see a specialist...fine. If he was going to Phoenix to work with their staff in a warm climate....super fine. But just to get out of the cold? That is called a vacation.

Can you think of another athlete that has done this? (Again, not to see a specialist, just to get out of the cold).

Hey now.. it's that 17.3 seconds from the arena door to the limo that really gets him.... and when he goes to dinner there could be another 45-50 seconds he has to be cold for.... and when he has to wear a lot of clothes, people can't see his muscles, dammit. Just leave him alone.

It's not a big deal so much as it is pretty humorous because the whole "Im Back" SI Essay it was all about going "HOME".

Be "HOME" with his family, back "HOME" to mentor to his new team and back"HOME" to build the community.

But now instead of travelling with the team or rehabbing at "HOME" - he's back in MIA

If he's so passionate about CLE and rebuilding the city, he could have used this rehab stint as a great way to plug rehab facilities in the city and org.

Everything about Cleveland this year has just been messed up. I don't really want to go down the PED road but the whole weight loss/carb stuff this summer, followed by breaking down a bit for the first time in his career, and below career-average production makes me take pause.

Then you've got the BS about teaching the young guys how to win, being in "chill mode", and now taking time off away from the team in the middle of a 1-6 stretch of games- I don't see how its not a HUGE deal. Especially with Kyrie and Love working thru nagging injuries themselves.

I suppose that if they win a title or even make the Finals this year, all will be forgotten. But if they are an early exit in the playoffs, his actions should be questioned. For this story is to be taken at face value, then it means Cleveland is incapable of effectively rehabbing minor/nagging injuries and I'm not buying it. The Cleveland Clinic is annually rated one of the best hospitals in the country.
Honesty is my only excuse.

I'm kind of surprised he's not getting ripped for attending that game last night with his 'ailing' back.

http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf ... the_o.html

I really doubt MJ would have done that - and esp with Phil coaching the team.
And David Blatt does not have the cajones to tell him no - so this kind of proves that he's running that show and there's no way that can be good for the team.

Even if this was a day off, seems like he should be with that team.....

I had the same thought during the game last night. Pretty sure he (or the Cavs) said that he had doctor's orders to not attend the Cavs games because sitting for 3 hours was bad for his back. So now a week later he's sitting/standing for 4 hours at a football game?

Maybe he taught the young Buckeyes how to win?

I find it funny that some people who defended the way in which Derrick Rose rehabbed post 2012 ACL surgery are giving LeBron James grief.

When he was sent to Miami, did we also forget that he has a home in Miami? This doesn't surprise me at all. Not even laughing about it surprises me.
