Jeff Green shouldn't be playing in this game at all. No need to risk injury.

Griz definitely trying to trade Tayshaun Prince 4 Jeff Green but it won't be done 2night. "Deal has fallen apart several times," per source.

An interesting twist...

How does trading all these guys interfere with the tanking plan?

Pick a lane, bro.

No problem with the trade......its just 3 months too late.......plus don't get why most of you are creaming yourselves because we will yield another low 1st rd pick. Big effin deal. Talk to me when we land a Top 5 pick and actually draft a MERCEDES instead of more run-of-the-mill FORDS.

This is what everyone wanted though...get what you wish for I guess. That being said if they hit in the lotto this year and Smart/Young pan out this team becomes appealing to free agents.

I never wanted this

This team is not appealing to anyone, period. Nobody wants to come play with kids, let alone kids who have done absolutely nothing

I applaud Ainge for having balls, but a championship team has never been built in this manner

If you read the game thread you'll see a ton of "fans" cheering against the Celtics. People wanted a complete blow up. Well...the ones who wanted it has it. Now we need Smart and Young to pan out because KO and Sully haven't been all that great and look like role players, ditto with Zeller.

We are going to land at least one Star player guys. That's why Ainge Keeps acquiring First round Picks. He plans to flip them to a team rebuilding with a disgruntled star.

Young is "nothing" -? Half this board thinks he will be better then Smart! And he was the first of the many many many picks we got for dismantling our team...

read the last sentence. i gave young his due. he's the 1 good pick ainge made.

He's also the ONLY pick Danny has made using the picks he has got during this 'rebuild'.

I'm happy for Green, should the deal end up going down for sure. He should be as a 3rd or 4th guy on a contender. Perfect role for him. He'll be really good for Memphis as a SF and small ball PF.

I'm happy with the reported return. Pick(s) and expiring contracts are fine by me. And now there is some space cleared for younger guys to play.

If two 1sts were moved for Mozgov what value do first round picks have in the NBA currently? If the Celtics trade for a star two things will occur. One, the Celtics picks will decrease in value. Two, why would you go to a bad situation if you're already disgruntled?

Andy this is good thinking, but there's SO MUCH to move that I can't fault him for starting early. Might get more later, but situations might change so you don't know. And we've got games to lose and youngsters to evaluate - while still showcasing e.g. Bass and Thornton - in the meantime.

I don't want to keep on this since there's a Wright thread now. But if you talk about letting guys walk, I'd rather wait for a better pick for Wright or waive him after the deadline. Second rounders are almost worthless.. And he's not exactly a trouble-maker.. Like I said, I think Ainge sees potential value in the TPEs to facilitate trades, and depending on what happens with Memphis, this may be a roster crunch issue. They may have tried to buy out Nelson and failed, that little dude is stubborn.

Second-rounders are far from "worthless," particularly early ones like these picks will likely be.

I'm sure someone has crunched the numbers.. The likelihood of getting a rotation player in the second round who stays in the league more than 2-3 years is very low.. Second-rounders almost literally NEVER get traded for firsts, even when you have half a dozen to bundle. And Ainge never gambles on Euros in the second round.

Anyway, it's reasonable to wager that Minnesota is in the late lottery next year.. Wiggins is looking more and more like a superstar in waiting. It's not a great bet, but it could happen.

Yes, that was you complaining about Smart not so indirectly. As in, "the guy that we drafted later in the draft has more potential than our lotto pick. Stupid, sexy Ainge."

The C's are not going to make that move anytime soon, dont think about this offseason.

The C's will try to get one-two stars out of the Draft, hopefully Smart and your 1st in 2015, and then, if those guys work, they will make that move down the road in a couple of years.

This is not 2008, you dont have Paul Pierce in his prime.

Ange was able to draft a guy 15th, develop him and then use him as the centerpiece in the KG deal.

He also traded Jiri Welsch at the 2005 deadline for a 2007 Cavs pick that was due to be a late 1st rounder, then flipped that pick at the 2006 draft for Rondo.

Just saying. Plenty of examples of him working around the margins for major gain.

Oh... and we are in fact tanking too. Can do both of these things at the same time, you know.

For a 19 ppg starting small forward? Not sure that's greedy.

There's a Woj tweet that says this will be a 3 team deal...

Return to Boston Celtics
