It amounted to nothing. Glad perk got paid though.

And keeping Perk would have amounted to nothing as well. That next year (after the trade) was Perk's worst year ever. He wouldn't have changed anything...

Not to mention he's constantly ridiculed was one of the league's worst players. I'm not sure if he just looked better next to our prolific core and never was a truly good player, or just dropped off after getting traded.

what's the attraction here? A loyal Gm? Nope Warm weather? Nope We've never signed a stud in his prime and Trader Danny better hope he strikes on these pics or he can hit the rd....

What's the attraction of Memphis? Or Atl? Or Toronto? Or Portland? Because they are all amongst the best teams in the league right now...

I agree with the latter. Danny better know what he is doing, or else he is going to be fired and rightfully so.

Wrong. If we kept Perk, we would have had a much better chance in winning that second title. Danny gambled on old man Shaqs legs and J Oneal. Once Perk left, we didn't have a big who could set a damn screen, let alone rebound.....We could have been the Spurs, instead we're turning into Philly. I hope we hit on some of these pics...

Please show me where I said top 5 picks don't matter. You are confusing me with someone else.

But please tell me how Jefferson, Green and Gomes weren't the main pieces of the Garnet deal?

What you conveniently forget is we had to trade the #5 pick for Ray Allen first and that's the only reason KG even agreed to come here and re-sign. A star has to want to come here and sign for us to be able to pull off another powerball-type trade.......that ain't happening again. let's stop kidding ourselves......once in a lifetime trade and people act like we can pull that off again like it's easy.......give me a break.

Who is acting like it's easy? The bottom line FACT of that (and any) rebuild is you need ASSETS - young players and picks. You keep bashing what Danny is doing... but you haven't proposed an alternative!!!! What other choice do we have? Please. Pretty please. Enlighten us.

These 2nd rounders aren't assets. They are junk. This is why good teams don't need them and we can't trade for a good player with them. Danny crashed his own market by gifting Rondo, now we are rebuilding for at least another two years.

He got hurt and was never the same player. Part of it was that KG made him look good... and part of it was the injury... either way... we got his best years and traded him at the peak of his value. Smart move.

Silly.

Great free agents will go to a place that is committed to winning, good ownership, good assets and well-managed.

Celtics have never had cap space and assets. NEVER.

When we had Pierce and KG, we got players.

No one is signing here for the weather. That means we have to be set up to win and give them immortality.

WRONG. Perk SUCKED that next year... and hasn't been much of anything since. We traded damaged goods. He wasn't helping us win squat after the injury. He's a joke now.

Two years.. lol. Very optimistic. This team will be in the gutter for the next TEN years, guaranteed. Ainge has destroyed the Celtics.

Didn't it take like 6 years for Ainge to build that 08 team? The Celtics and Sixers have a better approach than any middle of the pack teams. Just be glad Ainge didn't sign Channing Frye and Ben Gordon LOL.

I guess people prefer being an 8 seed and getting destroyed in the first round.

Perk was never the same after that knee injury and was particularly horrifying in the 2011 playoffs, when he cost the Thunder the series by getting destroyed by Chandler.

Four other things for the historical revisionists...

Anyone remember Rondo getting a dislocated elbow in those same playoffs? Hard to argue that no Perkins cost us a ring.

Another thing was, OKC was able to extend him pre-lockout, where the CBA prevented us from going above 4y/22m. Had we kept him, he would have hit unrestricted free agency in a market that paid DeAndre like 11m a year and Chandler like 15m+.

As to Green, without the heart condition, quite possible we could have won a ring that year.

Last, the Clippers pick we got was pre-Chris Paul, and could have easily been a very good pick with better luck.

I prefer having a GM that doesn't trade our best players for a pile of crap. :noway:

We are two years into rebuilding and there has been absolutely zero progress. In fact, we're getting much, much worse.

Please just stop it with being rational and logical. Obviously no one here wants any part of logic or reason.

Rondo value was low because he got injured and was impeding FA. Green is also a rental. These trades are unfinished because we don't what the exceptions will net.
