How is this worse this worse than KG/PP/Jet for Crash, 3 1sts, a swap right and expirings?

Can some explain why the latter is drastically better than the former? We traded three guys who had one foot out the door for four assers, cap space and Jameer Nelson. That seems like a clear cut good deal...

The Brooklyn picks are unprotected.

Well just goes to show how little value Rondo and Green had.

Why would Celtics dump Jeff Green? Word is, he was a major annoyance to everyone in the locker room, coaches included. Just his nature.

But KG and PP were much better at the time than Green and Rondo, and we also had to be saddled with Crash and his atrocious contract.

Not sure how anyone can be mad about this move. Green had to go on multiple levels and despite his flashes of brilliance and PPG the last couple seasons, this guy is easily replaceable.

Very excited for this young group Stevens included. Really have a chance to build a culture here now with these pseudo stars removed from the scene. There will be a lot of ugly games though, so people will view that as confirmation of Ainge's incompetence but I firmly believe this team is going to be contending again in the near future and that this time there will be an added element of longevity.

For the next 4 years the Celtics will be able to put themselves in position to sign or trade for any and every player. They can land two stars in trades and still have enough pieces to build a rock solid bench. So in that sense, I think he learned from the last rebuild. He's not just thinking about getting the next KG-Ray stars but also have enough picks and flexibility to build a bench around them.

Why are they trading players for future low first round picks. When are they going to see having so many first round picks is not going to work. Yes it is nice to have, but they need to use them to get better players. Fans are not going to wait forever to see winning ball again.

Yeah.

I really don't think people have caught up with just how good the PG position is right now. Not saying the league passed Rondo by, but he kind of got himself stuck in neutral here in Boston, and it sounds like Dallas has been a bit of a wakeup call. We'll see how he rises to the challenge but these guys who take a few years off generally are never the same.

Though Pierce and KG had clearly aged, they were still playing consistently and productively on very good and competitive teams.

They just had more value... Look at the value that Perkins had for instance... Winning helps you build trade value in players.

I don't think Green was ever viewed that highly around the league though. So not sure how this could be at all surprising. Small chance at a first, couple solid second rounders... eh. Can't ask for much more than that.

Montieth is some sort of Indiana media guy, or announcer- so he probably heard something tonight.. Really don't know HOW he was annoying, but seems like a potential buzzkill type, sort of a lethargic Eeyore vibe. It was nice to see the team hustling tonight, and everyone seemed to be on the same page..

Also, what are the odds Ainge is trying to get Austin Rivers?

ESPN ranked Jeff Green as 124 best player in the league. That about ranks him as one of the worst Starters in the NBA. What were we honestly expecting to get in return?

if we get a mid-late 1st and something we can waive (Prince). Ill be fine with that.

Prince is playing tonight, which is weird.

Anyone remember the Pitino deals that fell through? One was for Clarence Weatherspoon, then I think we had a trade lined up for Danny Fortson (or giving him away?) that broke down.

This seems like some gamesmanship- Boston takes Green out to pressure Memphis into making a deal, Memphis keeps Prince in to resist. Gotta feel bad for Green..

I think it's more that we don't care whether Prince gets hurt or not, whereas Memphis wants Green healthy. We're going to waive Prince regardless, so since every game means something to Memphis in the west, they keep playing him.

Memphis traded its current 1st round pick which is protected through 2019. I thought this meant they could not trade a 1st round pick until 2021. What am I missing? Thanks.

It's not a Memphis pick they're offering. I believe it's a Minnesota pick.
