Yesterday, Roy Tarpley passed away at the age of 50. He was selected by the Dallas Mavericks with the 7th overall pick of the 1986 draft. Tarpley posted career averages of 12.6 points and 10.0 rebounds. He won the NBA 6th man of the year honors in his second season (1987-88) averaging 13.5 points and 11.8 rebounds in 28.5 mpg. His NBA career was derailed by his use of drugs and alcohol, which resulted in arrests, suspensions and eventually a permanent banning from the NBA. He did have some success playing basketball in Europe and ended his playing career in 2006 with he CBA6.
