Wait what? Who needs a player like Rivers and can give up a pick or prospect?

Though Austin Rivers, son of Clippers coach Doc Rivers, was listed as part of the deal in an ESPN report, a league source said that it's unlikely the struggling guard is heading to his father's former team.

"The bottom line is that the Celtics don't need another guard," the source said while acknowledging that Rivers has been added to the mix, it's not with the Celtics as a destination.

Instead, the trade, which must wait until the opening of league offices on Monday to be approved, is expected to bring the Celtics a future first round pick and Memphis forward Tayshaun Prince, whose $7.3 million contract is expiring.

"This deal is a continuously changing thing," said the source. "More names could still be added to it before it's over."

So Rivers is not coming to Boston?

Seriously?

Great move by Ainge getting Rivers to go along with the rest of the young players on this team. Awesome job!

Yep, my thoughts. Apparently Green was already creating problems in the locker room according to some reports from a reporter of the Pacers.

I am relieved to not have to deal with Green´s frustrating ¨walking dead¨ attitude...it seemed everything sucked, everything was tiring.

Bye Jeff, no other player has frustrated me so much in a long, long time. You have all the tools to be an All Star and yet you don´t give a damn and fail to do so.[/quote]

May be a 4th team that will take the Pelicans' trash.

This has to be one of the most edited deals ever.

While Austin Rivers appears headed to #celtics, NBA source said he may not stay with team. Stay tuned.

Other than cutting him what could that even mean.

means that pelicans wanted to dump rivers on us and we didn't want, makes sense as he makes 400 k more than Salmons and this further proves he sucks ass.

It means there are some high-level nutty negotiations here.. Boston was probably insistent on not taking back any salary, wanted someone they could waive immediately. Possibly a negotiating stance.. If you're "relenting" on swapping Salmons for Rivers, you're either doing a great job on purpose or you're doing a great job by dumb luck.

My guess is that Danny wants to force NOP into taking back Jameer Nelson, and that'll be his counter if they can't find a good team to take Austin- we'll settle for him if you take Jameer off our hands, because we 'have too many guards.'

I mostly meant what the specifics were. Thankfully, WoJ answered that question in his next tweet. Apparently Danny is trying to find a taker for Rivers now.
