Hell of a ride

Post#1 » by Romotodez » Mon Jan 12, 2015 5:36 am

Great season no doubt. Lots was accomplished. I remember Jimmy walking off the field after the game vs Detroit in 91 saying we still need to improve after we were soundly beaten. I think the same can be said here. Rodgers was outstanding in the second half and our tackling became horrible. Not sure what happened today with Moore and Wilcox. They were really bad. Gotta believe Rod joins TB and Eferbulis becomes the new DC. Wonder which LBs will be retained. We now Lee and Hitch will be back. I would take Carter and Durant. I know McClain is a favorite but it just seems there is always something with him. Obviously it's hard to go wrong though with any combo of 2 of the 3. I've seen this cap thing do funny things in the past. I think we have to try to get Suh. It may be too costly but we definitely need an upgrade over Hayden, even though I like him. Maybe Jpp?

Offensively, damn we had some chances. I loved what Linehan did this year, but today IMO Dez has to get the ball more. The 3rd and 1 shotgun?????? Who knows what happens if Romo catches the ball. I didn't see anyone open. The missed FG or missed Fgs. I said it a month ago that Bailey didn't look so perfect. His kickoffs were short today too- maybe design. Murray what a horse. I know he fumbled and could have scored maybe but damn he is a stud. I will hate to lose him if we do. Witten saved his best for the end of the season. Romo took too many sacks but played gutsy as hell and played well.

As far as the catch- I truly still haven't seen the ball hot the ground and I have seen it 100 times . I'm sure it does but I just haven't seen it. I couldn't believe they took it away.

I think the ball clearly hit the round but considering he took two steps and reached for the goal line with the ball I'd think one might see he made a football move. Unfortunately with the way the rules are I think they made the right call.

This is another rule that leaves too much for an individual to see it his way no matter how others see it. The NFL need to find a way to limit judgment decisions.

I just find it hard to believe that he catches the ball on the the 5 and a half yard line. No bobble or anything for 5 yards. I don't know how a significant move is not considered made. That's 5 yards of control and clear possession.

Definitely a catch! Took 3 steps before hitting ground! Highway robbery today! Of course the Refs are going to back each other especially after last week's game vs Det. Head held high Cowboys! No shame!

I too wonder about this, but when a catch is being made the same time the tackle is being made he has to manta in control through the tackle too. But the letter of the rule I think they called it right. I just do t like the rule ax written.

Too many what is as of now. What constitutes a football move? Teo steps and reaching the ball for extra yards? If so it's a catch, but no one has ever laid out all the possible "Football Moves".

yeah they definitely have to change the rule to where either takes out the judgment call (kinda hard to do), or allows for logic. I vote for being logical.
The rule should have been adjusted in 2010.

It was a great ride, and that was a catch. Once Dez came down with it, secured it, #37 made contact via a trip. Now Dez should be a ball carrier, and you can throw out the whole "well the ball can't move on his way to the ground" piece. Once his elbow hit the ground, he should have been down, play over, move along. Oh well. It was one play, and it didn't guarantee a victory. The Cowboys messed up elsewhere, which is why they even had to make that play to begin with. Besides that. Rodgers was likely going to get the ball back one more time.
