Anyway, on the way to work the local sports guys were talking with Sam Amico...who I'm wishy washy on for sure. But he said something that piqued my interest. Blatt apparently didn't address the team after last nights loss. He simply walked out.

1. Not having enough fingers to wear all your championship rings means you can say whatever you want, because you have the experience and first hand knowledge of winning in the NBA.

2. Phil (not sure about Pops) while being critical, has never said one of his star players don't deserve their money. That's a very low blow, a cheap blow. Max players who don't deserve max are guys like Rashard Lewis. It's a terrible comparison to make.

3. Phil was smart enough to level criticism publically only to players who could take it and use it as fuel to play better. But if the player was sensitive to it, he moderated his approach.
But underneath such alpha male traits lies a player with plenty of insecurities, according to former Lakers coach Phil Jackson. Namely, that Bryant doesn’t always take kindly to criticism.

“He’s very sensitive,” Jackson said Wednesday to ESPN Radio’s Colin Cowherd. “I had to be really careful in criticizing him. I learned immediately as I started to deal with him as a young man how sensitive he was in particular if it was done in a group setting. My criticism was best done if it was in my office or alone.”

You should watch the video

It's not as bad as people are making it out to be

Twitter sensationalism at best

Surprised Windhorst or someone isn't coming out to clarify, prob cause it's Twitter drama lol and not an espn piece

This topic not necessary btw, BUT him mentioning Love wasn't the best idea. Should have just went with the flow of questions.

Watched the video and it's pretty clear this was completely out of context. I don't think Blatt was familiar with what the term "Max player" really means as it's used in the NBA. I think it's pretty clear he was unaware that Love is already earning the max (well, the max when he was extended).

Shameful clickbait.

It was a comment referring to Love's contract status, not his ability. Even if Blatt was mistaken about the details of one of his player's contracts, who cares?

I don't think Windhorst is going to defend him. I'm pretty sure Lebron wants him out and Windy isn't going to piss off Lebron, again.

If he were a guy the players liked there would already be people defending him but it's eerily silent on that front.

Based on the quotes in the other thread, yes.

Interesting. Because none of the people who cover the Cav's are taking it that way. I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm saying it's pretty interesting that their using this to lob shots at Blatt.

Why are mods allowing a new thread be made for this? Shouldn't this be in the original thread?

Yeah bro, a fist full of rings will give you that credo. Being a rookie coach won't.

Do Euro-league rings count? He's got a bunch of those.

He said it as a joke since Love currently isn't being paid the max. Realgm over here blowing things way out of proportion.

I hate to be "that guy," but you mean piqued. Peak is, most often, a noun, as in the top of a mountain or the highest level.

I would assume because I am addressing his job status.

Yup, I clearly gaffed that one. Thank you.

I'll edit.

Q: "People look at this team and say 'Lebron is out' but Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, I mean they're two max players... they're here..."

Blatt: "Kevin's not a max player yet, is he? What? I mean, what does that mean?"

I am pretty sure he's not an idiot. My son knows what a "max player" is and he's 9 dude.

Kevin Love?

A shame if so. Your coach not knowing exactly how much you get paid isn't something to get upset about.
