I said this in another thread but why is everybody assuming Blatt is a moron? My 9 year old son knows what a "max" player is. To assume Blatt doesn't means you assume he is a moron.

Kevin Love probably will. Not getting a 5-year max contract has been a sore point for him for years. His current coach bringing up his contract status now, even if it was out of ignorance instead of malice, probably isn't going to endear Love to him.

Anyway, on the way to work the local sports guys were talking with Sam Amico...who I'm wishy washy on for sure. But he said something that peaked my interest. Blatt apparently didn't address the team after last nights loss. He simply walked out.

I hate to be "that guy," but you mean piqued. Peak is, most often, a noun, as in the top of a mountain or the highest level.

"When I peeked at the Cavalier's box scores my interest was piqued, because it seems as if the Cavs peaked in early December."

Yup, I clearly gaffed that one. Thank you.

I'll edit.

Seriously, I wasn't trying to be a d*ck or anything. I actually enjoy having my grammar corrected. I typed "wouldn't of" once about twenty years ago and I have not made that mistake again. Plus, pique is an under-appreciated word due to the homonyms. It's not quite in the they're/there/their category, though.

No offense taken sir. I'm out of college for oh...13 years now and my grammar has regressed ha ha.

I actually +1'd you for it.

OhioGuy216, I get you're not a fan of Blatt, but watch the whole damn video. There are more reasons to dismiss him than his Love quote.

First off, they're are a highly dysfunctional team with great individual talent and little else. It's also hard to succeed with any coach when your season expectations were set at Championship or fail.

Hence the nail in the coffin. Basically from what I gather from the reporters is that he isn't highly respected in the locker room, his offense isn't working (which is probably his players fault), and that he is a snide, arrogant, man who isn't endearing himself to the media/front office.

I'm not an anti-Blatt guy, I'm simply saying that where there is smoke, there is fire.

I got a bias in favor of Love, but of the Cavs' 3 stars right now, Irving is the worst fit. Say what you want about Love but he did lead the western conference Wolves to 40 wins (and we were historically one of the 'strongest' (though unluckiest lol) 40 win teams ever, if it weren't for some unlucky bounces and close games easily could've been 45 or more wins). I'm glad we kept Rubio and I dislike Irving's game (selfish and bad defense) but if along with the Wiggins/Love trade there was also an Irving/Rubio+picks trade, the Cavs would have a lot more wins right now. I sound like a hater lol but while many people say Love is overrated, Irving is even more overrated.

Just my two cents, I'm just glad we got Wiggins for a player about to leave anyway :)

Kevin Love?

A shame if so. Your coach not knowing exactly how much you get paid isn't something to get upset about.

I assume that every member of every organization, from the Coaches, owners, players, ball boys, etc... and every basketball nerd that posts here on realGM. ( us) know Kevin Love is a max player. Both currently and in future contracts. If you don't know these details, well then you are on par with my Mom's knowledge of the NBA/CBA.

Blatt's a goner and he knows it. The only logical explanation for this. He's had a lot of success in Europe and he's not likely to go quietly into the night. He's going to say some things to hopefully motivate guys and if it doesn't work, who care, he's getting a pink slip regardless.

It never seemed like the Cavs ever bought into him as their leader. Only question now is whether the Lebron/Love/Kyrie trio will remain intact in 2015.

*shrug*

If I were a construction worker, I would expect the payroll guys to know how much I got paid. I wouldn't give a damn if my foreman knew or didn't know. It has nothing to do with his responsibilities. And the precise details of Love's contract have nothing to do with Blatt's.

Sorry, I just think the whole thing is stupid. The sad part is that now the media is going to be besieging the entire locker room with even stupider questions about it because of fandom's obsession with drama.

I'm not sure how much this TMZ drama matters compared to the actual play on the court. I'm far more concerned with Kevin Love thinking: If I wanted to get blown out by the Kings, I could have just stayed in Minny. Blatt is going to have like two weeks after LBJ and Shump return to get this team winning. If he can't, he's going to be gone anyway. If he can, and this team rolls in the playoffs, no one will care about a one off remark at a press conference.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Well Blatt seems to be using Love like a poor man's Bosh on offense. And on defense Love is just horrible.

He ended the sentence with "is he?"
he didn't know Love was getting the max.

There is a huge difference between being a " regular shmo" job and the NBA as it pertains to salaries. Thus Hoopshype, RGM, trade Checker et al exsists for the common man to talk about trades, salaries and player movement and the CBA.

As such these discussions also take place in the media daily, then you have the trade deadline and really everyting about basketball involves salaries and max's and MLEs, etc.. but you know all that.

Sorry, I just think the whole thing is stupid. The sad part is that now the media is going to be besieging the entire locker room with even stupider questions about it because of fandom's obsession with drama.

I know right? I heard Kobe Bryant makes alot of money.. :o
