National Championship poll and game thread
So how do you think this game plays out? I'd like to see Oregon win, but Ohio St has looked scary good the last couple of games, so I have no idea. I do know that Oregon can't make mistakes if they hope to win.

vast majority bets are on oregon, bodes well for osu since public sucks at gambling.

Yeah, even though I'm a PAC 12 guy and thought OSU was overrated most of the season, after they beat Mich St, they had my attention, yet I still thought they might lose the BIG 10 Championship, and then watching that was jaw dropping, so much so that I bet on them against Alabama in multiple ways.
I have a gut feeling that OSU could beat Oregon, and I kind of want to bet on it, but the spread is in a bad spot right now to take the points.
I just read that significant money from the sharps though is coming in on OSU while the public largely is betting more on Oregon. Again, that makes me feel worse about Oregon.
And I'd like to pull for Oregon. Will be interesting.

Re: National Championship poll and game thread
Those two dropped passes KILLED Oregon, and then of course the non pass interference. Can't blame Mariota...if his receivers just catch the ball, and refs make the right call, three drives could have ended in scores. Then when they got the turnover I kind of felt that evened up the breaks, but nice hold by Ohio St. It's pretty amazing you can have that blatant of an unsportsmanlike conduct call but it not really cost your team since you are already on the half foot line.

ohio state is obviously the better team and oregon is physically overmatched but dumb mistakes are killing osu. i was afraid of turnovers being a big factor.

Yeah, I kind of felt like it might turn into this kind of game. I wouldn't say it is completely obvious, because I think Oregon very easily could have scored on their first three drives, maybe first four, if not for the stuff I talked about earlier. Sure, drops come down to talent, but those guys were wide open...it's not like Ohio St made them drop it. Of course you can also argue that is based on the talent, and while true, it is was uncharacteristic.
BUT, at the same time, I think OSU is more of the type of team that will consistently be tough, especially with the way they have gotten better, and Urban Meyer is unbelievable as a coach in bowl games.
The one thing I thought about Oregon, probably because I am an AZ alum and fan, and we are the one team to beat them, is that if you can get them a little out of their game, they kind of fall apart, and that kind of looks like what is happening.

Well that was a surprising turn of events. Looked like Oregon was going to run up the score after they got their first score followed by a quick three and out.

Yeah, and those drops, non interference call, and not getting the td went they went for it on 4th just has gotten them out of sorts. They better score now. I'd like to see a good game at least.

Re: National Championship poll and game thread
mariota is rattled, missing wide open receivers.
ohio state is dominating every facet, should've been at least a three posession game if not for soft fumbles. play smarter second half and osu blows em out.

don't know about the first one but last drop receiver was back pedaling, mariota had to make that throw earlier than he needed to because he was under pressure. receiver still could have caught it but osu pressure had a lot to do with mariota's mistiming.
oregon's cage is rattled from osu pressure, they need to toughen up to get back in this.

Yeah, I didn't see the first one or at least don't remember it, but despite the backpedaling, that guy should have caught that pass no question. That had to be demoralizing to an extent for Mariota for sure. The guy made a huge catch later on third down so his confidence has to be back after that if it was ever gone.
But Ohio St definitely looks like the better team. They might be as good as AZ and can be the only other team to beat Oregon. j/k, I know AZ got crushed by Oregon later, and they are clearly young, but for once, I like their football future.

Re: National Championship poll and game thread
Wow, Oregon is favored by 6 1/2 in the second half. I thought I might bet on someone who was down in the second half, but that spread seems too big, and I don't even know if Oregon can win the second half.
