He's one of my favorite players in D1 right now. About 6'4/6'5, very good passer, has the ability to score, can handle the ball. Basically he's a PG/SG right now leaning more towards SG. He would be great in the Triangle with his skill set. He's an average athlete, has been a deadeye from three so far (44.6%) and gets to the line. He's like a smaller James Harden. Pretty much a 1 and done guy at this point. If we had an extra lotto pick I would use it on him with no hesitation.

Smaller James Harden? He can't get to the line nearly as well as Harden because he lacks the craftiness and he plays way too smooth. I'd say he's more like a weak Brandon Roy or a weaker Eric Gordon (pre-injury) with his ability to be passive and laid-back while still taking over games. If we end up out of the top 3 Russell and Kevon Looney are great picks and fits in the triangle.

Someone was telling me Jahlil is improving during the season and they sent me these numbers:

First 5 games: 15.8 ppg, 36/60 (60.0%), 60.1 TS%, 22.4 pp40
Next 5 games: 19.0 ppg, 39/55 (70.9%), 67.9 TS%, 26.9 pp40
Last 5 games: 22.8 ppg, 42/56 (75.0%), 74.3 TS%, 28.7 pp40

Talk now is that Jahlil is the best college C since Anthony Davis and possibly Tim Duncan if he can do this or similar against good competition like Texas and Kentucky since the few times he's played NBA level bigs Coach K leaned more on Tyus and the backcourt only giving Jahlil shots when everything else fell through.

I love both players -- here are their comparative #s per 40 mins.

Towns Okafor
Pts Per 40 16.7 25.9
RBS Per 40 14.0 12.5
Assts Per 40 2.0 1.8
Blks Per 40 4.5 2.3
Tos Per 40 3.2 3.3

I don't think there is a debate. Okafor is much better than Towns and more NBA ready. I don't care what his per 40 min stats are, Towns only plays 20 minutes a game and seems to be more of a project/more likely to be a bust. Okafor all the way.
Make the Knicks great again!

I don't care how often being the worst team in the NBA doesn't get you the number one pick. I want the Knicks on lottery day to have the most balls to get Okafor.

Exactly! Plus one has to think the worst team is due to get the #1, let's hope we're successful. Btw, I think someone had a talk with Okafor after that loss that he needs to play with more of mean streak because I noticed that he seems like he is trying to dunk everything tonight.

They keep ignoring Okafor throw him the damn ball, even when he gets doubled throw it back to him.

One issue I'm seeing with him though if he's not getting a post-up opportunity he is really lazy with doing anything else on offense. His PnR game is just yuck.

I can't remember the last time I've seen a guy get doubled that much game in and game out before.

I agree JBreeze, I would like to see him set picks and then roll to the basket for an alley oops sort of like that scrub we had last year that wore #6 used to do.

Haven't seen much of the Duke game, but I saw Okafor with a forced shot followed by a traveling call. Miami in his head or did I just happen to see a flustered Okafor for two plays?

Um I want to say a combination.

They're doing a pretty good job of double teaming him & trying to shut him down in the post but he has gotten off a couple decent looks.

I think you just caught him at a bad moment, plus I get the sense that he is trying some new stuff that he has been working on in practice.

This kid Johnson has impressed me the most out of the Kentucky Bigs when I've watched them.

Holy sh*t this crazy

Okafor getting defended straight up and missing, Duke's guards playing like they got their powers stolen Monstars style, Miami on attack with a 9 point lead.

Yikes.
