I am sure we can fill his roster spot with someone more useful,I say make him like a coach or something for us since I heard he is a good teammate/veteran...but what exactly is he here for I don't see him being a factor if one of our bigs go down...thoughts?

Chicago guy, insurance C for 1-2 games based on Noah's knee.

I am pretty certain Bulls knew about Noah's knee and hence stacked the frontcourt.

Alternative thought: Large vet min dollar slot.

Beat me to it. But yes, he is here for the sole purpose of shoving Lebron James on his ass in the playoffs.

So why not make him like a team adviser or something to that effect

Then the Bulls have to pay his salary.

Vet min salaries are paid in large part by the league.

Well, if you are sure, that's good enough for me.

Why do YOU think Nazr is on the roster? Let's work the question.

In a perfect world and in the purpose of making every single dollar of salary on this roster count it sure would be nice if Kirk's salary spot could be replaced by somebody like a Steve Blake or Jordan Farmar or Ramon Sessions or something. And Nazr's spot can be taken by somebody like Hassan Whiteside or something.

*continues dreaming*

Well now learning about his contract I guess I wasn't sure...so there that

But as far as him wasting a roster spot I still stand by that but it seems like he is here to stay...so it is what it is

Bulls brought in three new big men (Bairstow, Gasol, and Mirotic) so it's useful to have someone on the floor at practice + in the film room who can not only help the big guys understand their roles in the defense, but he also knows a lot of sets that other teams run (ala the scout team in an offense) and he can coach up teammates them while being a player and not a coach.

Also, you want some insurance in case Noah can't go some nights and you don't want to rely all on Bairstow being ready.

Finally, it's a loyalty thing that some veteran players will remember that the Bulls did Nazr right.

Fill a roster spot with a guy who won't complain about not getting any minutes, he's prolly a great locker room guy.... plus the league pays a big part of his salary

Isn't there 15 roster spots now? What should they replace him with? Should all 15 be playing? He is an emergency guy.

There are plenty of end of the roster fill ins that don't play in actual games, but are there for bodies in practice, for mentor-ship, leadership, or sometimes to even babysit. By the looks of it, he seems to be Derrick's closest friend on the team, they are constantly sitting beside each other talking on the bench, must be a Chicago thing.

Remember when Jack Haley was on the Bulls PURELY as a friend and baby sitter for Dennis Rodman.
Why so serious?
