Its hard for TT to sign if we are not making him an offer

But according to the wiggins theory he should play here at a discount because he's from Toronto. We could certainly could use his defense and rebounding, it's his salary demands that Masai probably doesn't want.

All Cavs thought they'd have career years with LeBron.

Either he's waiting for those new tv/cba deals or he REALLY wants out of Cleveland.

I'm thinking he knows he'll get the same on another team and be a starter. Think the Knicks when they strike out on everyone else.

However most of you don't understand NBA FA market. The starting salary for any big who can be part of your rotational (24-30 min) is probably $6-8M. TT is young big drafted high and who still has potential. Plus add the cap increase in 2years. I would say market value should be around $10M. It was crazy how people here were like we can get him for $6M.

I'm pretty sure JV is going to at least ask for the current max which starts at $16M. Some heads here will explode.

And how much is Ed Davis making? TT has shown about as much, maybe even less than Ed did over the course of his rookie contract.

what? how do you figure ed davis showed more than TT?

James is the biggest reason Klutch Sports exists, and he's an active recruiter of high school, college and current NBA players to join the agency. Of course, plenty of players help their agents recruit. So when James committed as a free agent in July, everyone understood there was a tax – spoken or unspoken – that would come with James' return, that would manifest itself in an above-market deal for Thompson.

Thompson's a rebounder, a defender, an energy guy. He isn't a starter on a playoff team, but he has a good attitude, a good motor and could be a role player anywhere in the NBA. Paul isn't the first agent to leverage a more prominent client's extension against another, nor the last.

Even so, at what price? Within the NBA, officials expected maybe $10 million a year, perhaps $12 million if Klutch wanted to push it. Well, they kept pushing it. Thompson turned down a $13 million-a-year extension offer – four-years, $52 million, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

For a player of Thompson's stature, this is an incredible risk. An injury could cost him lifetime security. Nothing close to that money exists on the restricted free-agent market this summer, but with James on a one-year deal, Klutch can try to leverage the Cavaliers all over again to get the deal they want – or simply take the one that was already offered.

He thinks he deserves more then 14 million dollars a year? This kid is really nuts.

You guys realiz they have agents right?

consistency matters; mo williams and tross arent all stars. but also just looking at their career highs tt's is 29, 21 and 5 while ed's is 24, 17 and 6.

I dont believe this story. Someone just doesn't reject a contract like that, if true someone advised him to decline, but i doubt this is a true story. I doubt tristian is that dumb

This has the potential to be an epic thread. Battle of the overrated.

Raptor board homers who overate Ed Davis for some unknown reason Vs the Raptor Board Homers who overrate Tristan because he's Canadian.

I'm gonna get some popcorn and wait.

I don't over rate Ed. I put him as close to TT. I am down playing Thompson's potential and think Ed is a decent comparison.

Fair enough, I'm gonna wait for the real homers to come in the thread :-)

Well if this is true then maybe its not all about the money. Tristan Thompson wouldn't mind making less but in a better (starter minutes?) environment. If I were him, I may want to sign with the Knicks as a free agent, even money is less.

Dear lord, 13M/Yr and he turns that down. LOL.

He thinks he's much better than he really is.

13 mill would be considered a discount to him considering he turned it down, then ppl will be saying how we had to overpay to attract Canadians
