Time To End The Hinrich Era. - MERGED
My opinion about Hinrich is long documented, so I won't go too long here. Hinrich's 2nd run in Chicago is a disaster. It seems clearer than ever that he brings little to nothing to the rotation. Having a limited, "defensive" combo guard is fine provided his minutes are in extreme moderation. Unfortunately, Hinrich plays 28mpg and earns a litle over $2.7 million. His numbers suggest he's a veteran minimum player on his last legs in the league.
Surely there's a way to get a legitimate backup shooting guard, who can actually benefit the team, rather than continuing to masquerade Hinrich as a contributor. His leadership, locker room qualities or whatever are fine, but it's time to stop fooling ourselves with him.

How is he supposed to be good when everyone else isn't doing there part? Team effort. No one is expecting this guy to carry the load. He isn't bad for what he is.

Re: Time To End The Hinrich Era.
I agree. It's just not working. He's not much of a defensive player anymore, and his offense IMHO actually has been better than his defense with his once out of every 10 games, good game. Snell and Hinrich can stop this team from winning a championship.

I'm not expecting him to carry anything. I expect him to be a solid contributor and he's not. We don't get much, if anything from him game to game

I never liked him anyway. Right now, he is at his worst.
I am also not too hot on Noah either. If we could get someone like D. Green from Warriors or some nice wing player, I would be all for it.
I know Gasol is here for only 2 years but I don't see Noah any good after 2 years anyways. Someone might still bid high for him and we should go for it.

Who we going to play instead? Brooks and his terrible D?
I've been saying for a while the guard situation is almost as bad as the wings on depth.

Can we end the Tony Snell era as well?

I'd take Ray Allen for 15 mpg over Hinrich.

It doesn't how matter how he's playing. The FO likes him beyond the basketball court, they see him as a Bulls lifer, and they probably feel extra loyalty to him now after having traded him for cap space in 2010. It's just not likely that they're going to trade him again. If you want him gone, your best hope is probably that he declines his PO and/or retires this summer.

Re: Time To End The Hinrich Era.
The FO inability or refusal to get a legit/proven wing this offseason is inexcusable and a huge miscalculation in a championship or bust season. If Snell or McD or Moore were an actual replacement level player or, say, Rasual Freakin Butler, then Jimmy doesn't have to spend time at the three right now, Hinrich sees less minutes, and Jimmys effectiveness increases.
Couple that with Hinrich being god awful on his own, and you have the two worst rotational players of any playoff team.
You can't make that kind of mistake if u wanna be taken seriously. And you especially can't make it twice.

I hate the Hinrich haters. Plain and simple.

Maybe it would be hate if he was actually good. He typically does nothing notable.

I fully endorse giving all of Hinrich's minutes to E'twaun Moore. He is a reliable scorer and he is a more athletic defender. I have been complaining about Hinrich for years now. I thought that it was insane that that the front office brought him back this season and now their chickens have come to roost.

Re: Time To End The Hinrich Era.
he isn't going anywhere
our best hope is they make a trade for a wing and they cut into his minutes
but thats unlikely...i cant think of one instance where Paxson made a trade to get a player that made us better RIGHT THEN
every trade hes made was a salary dump or to get future assets

Great post, Red. Most people Not necessary - Re the fact that 1 out of every 5 games Captain Klank turns back the clock. I'd rather go with Snell at this point. Snell plays defense consistently.

Yeah...
I like Hinrich as a situational defender and emergency point guard, but he's far too inconsistent to be in the rotation. We really need to replace him and Snell, and probably need to do it this season.

I like the fact that the Tony Snell era has started. He plays very decent defense and gets his hand on a lot of balls. As of late he has shown much more value than Kirk. Too bad Kirk is the bastard son of JPax and isn't going anywhere. When McD and Dunleavy return unfortunately it will be Snell who's minute's take the ax when it should be Kirk's. I know that you can move Snell to SG and still get the same effort he's giving you at SF. I wouldn't give up on Snell right now because he might take the same pattern James Johnson took and actually become a viable man off the bench in his 4th season.
