Adam Silver: Sponsors On NBA Jerseys 'Inevitable'

The NBA will eventually have sponsor names on team jerseys as is standard practice for international sports teams.

"Exactly when it's going to come, I'm not sure, but I do think it's inevitable in our sport," Adam Silver said in London.

Last May, Silver said it would likely come to the NBA in five years.

I don't like.
If I like something in this sport it's their clean jerseys.

You can put comercial in the arenas, you can sponsor everything, even every interview, but c'mon I don't want to buy a Jersey with some weird product.

"inevitable?" Really? No, Adam, it's not. If you say there will be no advertising on jerseys, then there will be no advertising on jerseys. Not inevitable at all. Show some backbone and stop squeezing your product til it's dry. Fans matter and the vast majority of fans don't want this.

Im already sick of all the bull **** at the arena and shameless promotion. Why does it have to come? So the billionaire owners can give some money to millionaire players while half the true fans cant even afford tickets anymore?

It's been on European football and basketball jerseys for a long time now. I don't wouldn't mind it as much if they cut the amount of TV advertisements during a game - it has become painful to watch an entire NBA game with the amount of ads that get bombarded at us.

That 2-minute "technical" time out needs to disappear, commercial during 30 (short) second time-outs need to be replaced with sports analyst discussions? I don't know - just need the commercial to be cut WAYYYYY down.

Seeing what they did to our Lynx jerseys in an abomination.

I mean the TEAM NAME is not even featured. Freaking MAYO CLINIC is featured. The team might as well be called the Mayo Clinics. That's just egregious. A WNBA team probably needs that because they don't make a lot of money but an NBA team does not have to go that route. If the ads take over the damn jersey and identity of the team, what does it say for the purity of the product? It really is bothersome.

I think its the end of games mainly. I dont mind commercials as much because I usually DVR the game and wait about 30 min before I start it or I watch a 30 (22 minute) program at half time to speed up the game. I will keep the commercials and a 50% drop ticket prices and all the sponsorship ruining being at the game anyday
