Which team faces toughest schedule in 2015? Whose is easiest?

If you are looking at looking at your team's schedule this is probably what is going through your head. Trying to predict how your team is going to fare in the upcoming season can be as simple as looking at the schedule and guessing what they are going to do in each game.

MLSsoccer.com is here to help. Taking a broader look at each team's schedule, we put together each team's strength of schedule for the upcoming 2015 season. Every team's schedule was laid out with their opponents at home and on the road. Then each of those games was assigned a points-per-game figure based on how their opponents did at home or on the road in 2014. Finally, all those figures were averaged to find the strength of their schedule for the entire season.

For example, if Chicago were playing at LA, home vs. Vancouver, and at SJ, their strength of schedule would be 1.55, since LA averaged 2.35 points per game at home in 2014, Vancouver averaged 1.06 ppg on the road, and San Jose averaged 1.24 ppg at home. Games against New York City FC and Orlando City SC were left blank, as they did not compete in the 2014 season.

Below is the strength of each team's schedule in 2015:

San Jose with the toughest MLS schedule next season, Toronto & Montreal have the toughest schedule in the East.

6 of the top 7 are west teams, go figure. Makes Seattle's supporters shield much more impressive than New York's from last year. I didnt see RSL making the playoffs this year with the old playoff format. With six from each conference advancing this season, it should be doable. Six is waaaaay too many, in my opinion.

I agree it's way too many, but it will be harder every season after this point as more teams are added to the league.

It's the exact format the NFL uses, so I'm guessing that's why they wanted to do it. Adds familiarity

Eto'o could be headed to either Sounders or Cosmos if he doesn't end up in Serie A according to reports.

Can the Cosmos just buy the Red Bulls and get it over with already?

Though personally I hate the draft, it is today and it is important.

MLSsoccer.com to carry LIVE stream of 2015 MLS SuperDraft, presented by adidas, at 12:30 ET Thursday

Thursday's MLS SuperDraft, presented by adidas, is one of the biggest days on the calendar and MLSsoccer.com has you covered.

Beginning at 12:30 pm ET on Thursday, MLSsoccer.com will be your home for the LIVE VIDEO STREAM (click here to watch) of all 42 picks from the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.

Simulcast on SiriusXM FC Channel 94, host Joe Tolleson, US soccer legend John Harkes and MLSsoccer.com's Jonathan Yardley will have all the coverage, plus exclusive interviews throughout the afternoon.

While you're following the live stream, you can also share your instant reactions with MLSsoccer.com's Armchair Analyst, Matt Doyle, in a LIVE CHAT.

And because it'll be impossible for you to keep track of every single pick, you'll want to be hitting refresh on MLSsoccer.com's pick-by-pick DRAFT TRACKER, where you'll get all the info you need about your club's selections.

Of course, throughout the day MLSsoccer.com will have all the news, reactions and videos from the players, coaches and GMs as well as from the Landon Donovan tribute event taking place in the hours preceding the SuperDraft.

Orlando has the first pick, any predictions on who they will take?

Also rumours that they may trade the pick to Montreal.

Salt lake pretty much gave Seattle Roldan, a projected top pick that fell to 16. Not liking a lot of things this franchise has been doing lately.

So the MLS MVP has been named after Landon Donovan.
He was the face of the MLS in the 2000's so congrats.

http://www.espnfc.com/major-league-socc ... on-donovan

Major League Soccer on Thursday named its MVP award after American soccer legend Landon Donovan, who retired in December after 14 MLS seasons.
MLS commissioner Don Garber announced the decision before the MLS draft, calling Donovan's decision to join the league in 2001 "one of the most important milestones in our history."
"As a child, soccer was merely an outlet for me -- a way to express myself," Donovan said. "To have this prestigious award named after me is truly unimaginable. Thank you to Commissioner Garber, Major League Soccer and all of the people that have supported me along the way. I am extremely humbled by and proud of this honor."
Donovan won his sole MVP in 2009. He was also an MVP finalist in 2008. He is the league's career leader in goals (144), assists (136) and MLS titles (six).
In international appearances by Americans, Donovan, with 157, trails only Cobi Jones (164). His 57 goals are well ahead of second-place Clint Dempsey (39), and his 58 assists are more than double the total of Jones, who is second with 22.

I'm not sure I like this move. I think MLS is way too early into their history to be naming their MVP award after anyone.

Ill give you that. I know the NBA had a lot of years before they named it after Rusell. Do you know How long have other leagues waited?

So I and the journalists were wrong about TFC getting a pile of cash in the Defoe deal...apparently it was a pure 1 for 1 afterall.

I was hoping VWFC would draft Axel Sjoberg out of marquette to pair up with Waston but admittedly I have no idea what we have in Tim Parker although he looks to be quite quick and alright on set pieces

So Jozy is going to Toronto FC.

Toronto FC have completed the signing of United States striker Jozy Altidore from Sunderland.

The news was confirmed on Friday, with Jermain Defoe moving in the opposite direction.

MLS sources told ESPN's ‎Marc Stein that Altidore received a five-year deal from Toronto in the $30 million range, putting him on a level with a select few in the league such as Seattle's Clint Dempsey, Altidore's new Toronto teammate Michael Bradley and top foreigners like New York City FC's David Villa and Frank Lampard, Orlando's Kaka and LA Galaxy-bound Steven Gerrard.

Despite Premier League interest, Wigan's Shaun Maloney set to sign with Chicago Fire

The Chicago Fire may not have missed out on one of their top offseason targets after all.

Several reports on Monday stated that Shaun Maloney has agreed to terms with the Fire, despite news that emerged last week that the Wigan forward had instead opted for a move to Leicester City.

UK-based journalist Pete O’Rourke tweeted Monday that Maloney had indeed signed with the Fire, followed by a tweet by Chicago Sun-Times writer Brian Sandalow that a deal was close but not final yet.

Argentine defender Hernan Grana headed to Columbus Crew SC

Columbus Crew SC may not be done stocking up on outside backs yet.

Reports out of Argentina have right back Hernán Grana headed to Crew SC, with the website MassiveReport.com confirming that there have been discussions between the club and the Argentine veteran, who is currently with Boca Juniors on loan from All Boys.

Crew SC recently completed a SuperDraft trade that landed them former Colorado Rapids outside back Chris Klute to go along with expected left-back starter Waylon Francis.

Colorado Rapids acquire Sam Cronin from San Jose Earthquakes in exchange for allocation money

The San Jose Earthquakes continued their offseason makeover on Monday, sending longtime midfielder Sam Cronin to the Colorado Rapids in exchange for allocation money.

Cronin, 28, spent the last four-and-a-half seasons in San Jose, recording five goals and 12 assists in 140 regular season appearances with the Quakes. He’ll slot into a Colorado midfield that on Monday officially lost Jose Mari, who signed with La Liga club Levante in his native Spain after spending one year with the Rapids.

It's the second big midfield move made by the Rapids in recent days after acquiring veteran Marcelo Sarvas from the defending MLS Cup champions LA Galaxy.
