Is Lin being under utilized? Yes or no.
Not sure what's going on behind the scenes but for someone the Lakers knew would bring audience and ratings.... how does Scott management to piss away Lin's minutes? and now he's putting Ellington on the dog-house when he was always the guy that would spark the team with his multiple jump-shots when the offensive was stagnant.... this might be one of the worse team managing I have ever seen.... the coaching staff is simply clueless and they are trying everything possible to give other NBA players a reason not to give a thought of playing in L.A.
I hope this all ends soon... can't believe we as fans need to put up with this crap for the next 4 months....... I hope something good comes out of this... or the Lakers owe the season-ticket holders a apology.

Lakers putting this crap product on the floor for the the fans to see is more of a reach.... the offensive schemes in the 4th quarter have been our main down-fall... when you don't have a proper offensive system.... you don't play Price 30+ minutes......

Yes, the Lakers plan is to piss off an entire country as that would be great for business.

The Lakers have long-known to piss off there piers.... from choosing MDA over Phil..... to not getting anything for Howard/Gasol and now letting these jokesters destroy the reputation of the team.

Two teams in a row! What are all these teams thinking!
Where do you think he'll sign next year? Should start scouting that boards posting style.

Re: Lakers and Scotts treatment of Jeremy Lin is a travesty
When given the opportunity to start, Lin was anything but impressive... In fact the team stunk with him in the starting lineup. They've been marginally better with him off the bench.
And Lin himself, says he's comfortable and enjoys playing with the guys off the bench.
You may disagree with this, but you can't call it a travesty... It's not like Lin is the overwhelming best choice to start, or that he's clearly outplaying Price and deserves more of his minutes.
It's marginal at best.
That said, the worst part of this thread is the title... It riles up the clearly overwrought LOFs, and causes a bunch of unnecessary nonsense? I'm changing it to reduce the panty twisting.

Re: Is Lin being under utilized? Yes or no.
I like him a lot, drives hard to the basket even when he doesn't get the benefit of the whistle, decent shooter and outside of picking up his dribble pointlessly and thus creating crucial turnovers he is a solid guard. I for one am surprised that he isn't seeing more minutes now that Price has cooled down considerably from 3.
Its clearly not helping that Swaggy P is hogging the ball like no tomorrow and sucking badly at his "Pretend Kobe" game.

No, if anything he's being overutilized.

Wow, he just stated what he was thinking about it, but some of you just piss all over it. I thought the mods were here to set an example how to make a constructive criticism, how people should discuss with one another, but I can see a lot of sarcasme here. Even yesterday I only mention one post about Lin only playing 15 minutes and immediately I get a sarcastic backlash from it... Hope you guys can change this and set an example.

See that's the problem exactly... You guys come here and post your little **** about Lin, and then leave... You don't have to read the nonsense that follows, and you make no effort to be a member of this community beyond elevating Lin and bashing the rest of the org. So you have no idea that we spend way too much time trying to minimize that nonsense so that the guys that have been active members of this community for years can stomach posting here and reading the forum.
It just doesn't matter to you because all you care about is Lin.
Well, that's not acceptable here anymore. Which means the guys we've been repeatedly warning, have a decision to make.

Are you talking specifically about me bashing the rest of the org, because that is not true. Don't categorise me with groups that only elevate Lin and bash the rest of the org. I have been respectful towards others. If I don't like them I don't post about them. And what effort should be made to be part of this community? I come here a lot and read the posts, I don't posts nonsense. Or is it that I can't only be talking about Lin and leave the rest out of it?
I agree that there are fans that only bash the org and that it goes too far, but if someone posts something you don't like, your reaction is just to replied to them mockingly and sarcastically? Because that is what I'm seeing from the previous posts towards OP. And yesterday I only posted one thing about Lin as I've said before and immediately I got backlash from it. So are you justifying that because mods got tired from people bashing the org and elevating Lin, that I have to accept that mods can mock me for one sentence? I know you're all humans, but mods have to set an example even if they get tired from those people. Am I wrong?

Randle is being under utilized. He should be giving half time interviews every game. Doesn't even have to be about the game. His thoughts on the weather and favorite colors would suffice.

Lol isn't it obvious?
Lin sucked when he was starting and playing a lot of minutes. Now that he comes off the bench, he's having max efficiency in limited minutes but the OP thinks he's being under utilized? Haha.
The fact is that Lin is not worth his 15M the Lakers are paying him, and he's just a decent spark off the bench. Players like that are a dime-a-dozen and deserve no more than 3M/year. Just accept it.
There's absolutely no way you can match him up against Steph Curry, Lillard, Conley, CP3, Tony Parker, Westbrook, and etc playing 30+ min and expect to win.

Re: Is Lin being under utilized? Yes or no.
bench player forced to play starter minutes, noone's going to guard the currys, lillards, pauls and westbrooks of this world, he just needs to have decent production to mitigate their damage
as a primary ball handler, yes he is being underutilised. but it is also true his efficiency drops when he is expected to carry the load of the playmaking. i doubt anyone expected linsanity, as much as they wanted it
i think scott has it almost right running him off the bench with young, kelly, boozer and black, frankly i'd have inserted ellington in there instead of boozer and shift young and kelly down.
that said, lin's productivity seemingly drops off a cliff when playing next to kobe, we've seen this before (with nash), point guards just wanna feed kobe, thinking that they're doing the right thing. if this was 2006, sure, but it's 2015 and now kobe is taking all the playmaking responsibility as well
might as well ask lin to be derek fisher

Re: Is Lin being under utilized? Yes or no.
In a vacuum, sure.
Obviously his corporal being can be utilized more. He could also have a higher usage rate.
Is that better? And most efficient? Perhaps.
But in reality, as others have stated in this thread and others, he simply isn't a good fit next to Kobe. It's very difficult to find a PG who is. It's why some of us are looking forward to when we can wipe that slate clean and join the 2000s--and I mean 2000s, because we've not had a good PG since the 90s.
Other than the poor-pairing with Kobe, Jeremy's own confidence/instincts issues do not really show that he's the player that can put up the kind of consistent production you need out of a starting point guard. Thus, his role has been changed to one which actually suits him: backup lead guard....Something which he is very solid at and could make quite the career out of.
So to answer your the question: is Lin being underutilized? Yes (in a vacuum), and no (he's playing a role).
Being a role player means much less consistency in terms of playing time. That's how it is at any level of basketball. And there's nothing wrong with it.
