zelalem leaning towards picking the USMNT over germany

Don't know anything about him. He any good?

he's highly rated but he's a relative unknown at the moment. Needs to get stronger and physically develop more but he looks really good technically. His final ball is really really good , likened to a young fabregas but cesc was dominant as a teenager for us so its a bit of a reach .

he's a good read on him. "dribble like iniesta and pass like xavi" might be going too far though without him proving him self in the first team yet lol. http://www.theguardian.com/football/201 ... t-fabregas

Gedion looks good, but these kids are such a crapshoot it's hard to tell. Since our national youth development system sucks compared to the European system our goal really should be to convince enough of these potential crapshoots to sign with us, and then pray a couple cash in as real USMNT players.

Unfortunately, that's going to be the extent of our youth system for a while if we want to be competitive. Poaching dual-nationals that have trained exclusively overseas.

Main task for USMNT's Klinsmann in 2015: Getting US Olympic soccer team off the ground

The US Soccer Federation faces a busy 2015 ahead of it on the men's side with a CONCACAF Gold in the summer sandwiched by an Under-20 World Cup and an Under-17 World Cup.

But the "main task" for the US men's program in 2015 involves a team that is not even involved in official competition, at least according to US senior national team manager and US technical director Jurgen Klinsmann.

"The main task for 2015 definitely is the Olympic Team, the Under-23 team," he said in audio distributed by US Soccer. "To get that off the ground and identify players obviously and get camps on the agenda and get games on the agenda for that team. And help them to kind of build already a core group toward the qualifiers then."

It's an Under-23 team that will look to erase the embarrassment of a shocking group-stage elimination in 2012 CONCACAF Olympic qualifying. A stoppage-time goal by El Salvador in the final group match, denied the US a chance to advance to the 2012 London Olympics.

"We want to make sure what happened with London 2012 is not happening again any more. So we kind of put this on a higher priority level and I think that's exciting," continued Klinsmann.

The camp, which kicked off Jan. 12 and runs through Feb. 8,
is being conducted across two continents.

After 12 days in California,
the team will head to Santiago in Chile for training from Jan. 25-29 as it prepares for its first friendly of the year against fellow 2014 FIFA World Cup side Chile on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Estadio El Teniente in Rancagua. The kickoff time will be announced at a later date.

The USA will then return to the U.S. Soccer National Training Center.

The camp culminates with a friendly against Panama on Feb. 8 in Carson.
Kickoff at StubHub Center is set for 1 p.m. PT, and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN, UniMas and Univision Deportes Network. Fans can also follow the match live on Twitter @ussoccer and @ussoccer_esp.
