Good luck Farmar, I'm hoping we can make some good deals.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

What kind of money did we save? Glad to see Farmar off the team. Hopefully we got a good deal out of it.

I would assume it meant we got out of his player option but who knows

When Jordan Farmar signed, his deal was $4.2 million in two years (approx. $2.07 per year). If it's a good amount of money, as Arash Markazi reports, I'm going to guess $3 million - clear for next season, enough to fit a veteran's minimum player for this season.

Sounds like it.

Additionally, rumors are the Cavs have interest in him. So I imagine he waives his player option, and then agrees to pro rate his deal.

That would mean we pay him around $996,960 of his contract ($2.077 mil). Another team that signs him would pay him the vet min pro rated for the rest of the season, with the league paying a portion of that salary which costs more than the 2 year minimum prorated.

Basically, Farmar gets near a million from us and recoups most of his contract through the league and Cavs.

That is what I imagine the terms were, but we wont know officially until they are released.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

I still can't get over losing Collison. He was so valuable. It was a good acquisition but the contract Doc gave him was stupid. A 2-year deal with the second year being a player option so it was basically just a one-year contract.

Actually, that's one of the rare moves that I can't criticize Doc for. Collison wanted to start and wasn't going to get that opportunity here, which is why he left for a team where he'd be able to start.

And honestly, people are remembering Collison through some severe rose-colored glasses. IIRC, he had a slow start to the year until CP3 went down and he got slotted into the starting lineup. He also had some unclutch moments in the playoffs. And nobody wanted him back for $16 million at the time.

Doc's mistake wasn't letting Collison go, it was thinking that a scrub like Farmar was going to be any good.

Collison took less money to be here. Barnes actually gave up a little of what he was going to get in order to get Collison on board. From the beginning, Collison looked at it as sacrificing money/role to be able to play for a championship contender. That didn't happen, and we only had non-bird rights for him this past offseason. Securing him to a longer deal would have cost more money whether it was done 2 years ago or if he were to re-sign last summer.

Farmar will always be a hero to me for the legend he is in LA high school basketball.

that said, I was happy to have him here and I was wrong. He was awful. I don't think he will suck. I think he will be fine elsewhere….just not here.

Glad it was mutual and I hope the best for him wherever he goes.

We can hate on Farmar, CDR, Hawes, etc. all we want but at the end of the day our bench system forces terrible production out of above-terrible players. I'm cutting our bench players some slack because even Collison looked bad for a large part of the season when he played in our bench system. The sad part is we had two bench players (and possibly Bullock) wanting to leave our team.

I havent seen Farmar play this year. From the sounds of it, he was terrible. But is he worse than Austin Rivers?
