Casey's defensive scheme is the problem. Teams have figured it out. The hedge no longer works. We have to go back to a traditional drop back/switch defense. It literally makes me sick seeing all these open 3s and mid range jumpers. It's a clinic. We could barely even stop Philly.

Obviously our players are playing with embarrassing amounts of energy. Kyle has been a shell of himself tossing the ball away on consecutive possessions and he can't hit a jump shot to save his life. He's probably exhausted. I'd give him the night off against Philly next week.

If they fire Casey without attempting to upgrade the talent, I'll be upset.

If they just upgrade the talent but don't make a coaching change i'll be upset. We need a system change, our offense all year has been very iso oriented and when everyone started out hot we were winning. And the one aspect that Casey is apparently strong it which is the defense has been horrible.

Just got home. This is hilarious. Props to Atlanta for being very consistent and following their game plan. Raptors coasted off lucky games and easy opponents, can't sustain wins if we don't have any offensive sets other than Lowry + Lou/GV free flow offense.

Yeah that's what I'm trying to say. I think they're slightly more talented, but not by as much as the score differential. The difference is systemic.

Yeah, but their personnel is much better suited for that system. Even though we have a similar amount of talent, we wouldn't be nearly as successful if we tried to emulate them. They have a prolific shooter, and two bigs that can shoot, pass and handle.

I'm not so sure about that. I think our bigs are better at shooting/passing than people give them credit for. They're just not really used in a capacity to get a rhythm and comfort level.

I actually think their personnel is a lot more solid

Kyle Korver --> elite shooter and not "Kapono" elite where he can only hit open jumpers. He also has a bit of a passing game, can defend and rebound a bit when needed.

Demarre Carroll --> consistent 3 + D, good rebounder

Thabo --> 3 + D

Schroder --> solid, young back-up PG

Jeff Teague --> having a career year, can play on both ends

Compare that to
GV --> one dimensional chucker
Lou Will --> one dimensional chucker
James Johnson --> defensive player, well-rounded, except he can't shoot at all

Then they have two all-star big men who are mobile, can play D and can shoot..backed up by Mike Scott and Antic, like Patterson and a 7 foot version of Patterson

Haven't followed the GT, but I hope none of you expected a win tonight. This loss isn't about the Raptors, it's about the Hawks. Said it on page 2 of this thread and I'll say it again, they're the best team in basketball. I'm picking them to win it all this year, and no, that's not an overreaction, I've watched their last 15 games. Fun Fun team.

Ima go watch The Forgotten Backcourt on repeat all night to go through this loss
