6-4 and half way through what is probably our most challenging stretch of the season. So far we have two give-me wins (BOS, NY), four quality wins (@HOU, @NO, CHI, SA), two bad losses (DAL, ATL), and two losses we were very competitive in (@OKC, @SA). So far I'd say we've done quite well, only loss that really stung was @ATL considering the delay the previous game and being on a the end of a back-to-back versus Dallas. We need some more signature road wins and have opportunities at CHI, POR, and PHX.

I think 6-4 or 7-3 in the next ten is very achievable which would put us at 12-8 or 13-7.

7-4 now. Even going a pedestrian 2-1 vs Brooklyn, Brooklyn, 6ers and 1-1 vs Denver, Lakers out west would put the Wiz at 10 wins for this difficult 20 game stretch. Very impressive.

We should be favored in each of the next four games IMO. I want to see us show some killer instinct and get all four.

In this span we have twelve road games, twelve against teams that are currently in the playoffs, eleven against teams currently .500 or above (not including OKC x 2) and eleven against the West. These games include:

-HOU
-DAL
-SA x 2
-OKC x 2
-ATL
-CHI x 2
-NOP
-POR
-PHX
-TOR

What are all your thoughts or prognostications on how we'll do? What do you think the team will or will not prove during this stretch? We are currently 20-8, throw out any numbers, stats, and records you think will be relevant in this brutal stretch.

COSC, out of the 13 games in bold I think 4-9 or 5-8 is reasonably pessimistic. Out of the other 7 maybe 4-3 or 5-2?

So, I will guess 8-12, or 9-11. They would be 28-20 or 29-19..

Right now, they are on pace to win 14 or 15 out of 20. If they keep it up, that would make the Wizards 34-14 or 35-13, on the way to near 60 wins.

The western teams are way tougher. They also play Atlanta, Chicago, and Toronto. COSC, the good news is the strong start is still going to put the Wizards in decent shape 20 games from now.

We've gone 5-4 against the .500 or better teams thus far and need two more wins against those teams to at least finish above .500 against them.

COSC, the Wizards are 7-4 out of what I predicted would be an 8-12 or 9-11 run.

LOOKING GOOD! :)

11 more games to win 2 or more ... and further, finishing 11-9 only takes 4W 5L.

That will be as successful as I could have dreamed of... but this team could exceed even that.

I know we're almost through the 20 difficult stretch of games, but do we have any easy stretch of games left in the season? We really need to put several Ws in a row to stay close to Atlanta.

Not really.

We get a few little mini runs

Jan 16 BRK
Jan 17 @ BRK
Jan 19 PHI

Feb 5 @ CHA
Feb 7 BRK
Feb 9 ORL

Feb 25 @ MIN
Feb 27 @ PHI

But there are always followed by some tough teams.

Most of February. Charlotte who has been playing much better ball, we got them twice. At Atlanta, at Toronto, home vs. Cleveland and Golden State.

9-5... I'd be satisfied if we go beat the Lakers and Nuggets at their places and split between the other four teams (OKC, @POR, @PHX, TOR). If we can 3-1 against the latter four I'd be ecstatic, that would leave us at 14-6 for the stretch.

February compared to this recent stretch is a relatively easier schedule, although it looks like we will be catching some teams that previously sucked playing much better ball now (i.e., DET/CHA). March ramps up play again against a bunch of teams that will be playoff bound or maybe scrapping for a final spot as well as our final Western swing. We close the regular season with a pretty easy eight games in April.

The good news is that the schedule always gets easy in March and April. All the tanking teams become easy wins.

Heck, 9-5 is so awesome that at this point, I'd be happy with beating the Lakers and Nuggets plus just one of the 4 tough games (hopefully the home game against TOR). That would still make us 12-8 over the hardest stretch of the season. It's all downhill from here.

And often top teams are resting starters or jockeying for position in 1st round matchups. Usually about 1/3 or less of the league is actually interested in winning games in April.

I wouldn't mind seeing Porter start. I think there is something to the argument that Porter, as sort of an uber role player, meshes well in the starting lineup with so many other scoring options. Meanwhile, Pierce can help carry the scoring load for the 2nd unit. (He makes the second unit even older though. Not sure if that's good for their perimeter defense.)

I think it's a really bad idea to start Seraphin though. The one thing Seraphin does pretty well is score in post isolation or on pick-and-pops. He's kind of sucky at everything else. A unit with Wall, Beal and Nene doesn't really need scoring as much as they need defense, rebounding, passing and overall basketball IQ. Seraphin just isn't cut out for the role. If you're going to suffer the loss of intangibles by having Seraphin on the floor, you ought to at least try and utilize his strengths, and for us, that means putting him on the second unit and trying to get him the ball in scoring position.

10-7 with three left, too bad we lost those two close games against OKC and POR or we would be looking at 12-5 right now. Going 2-1 in the last 3 would be fine with me, 3-0 would be awesome although unexpected, and 1-2 would be disappointing unless its a crushing of the Raptors at home.

11-9 ends up being the final mark. I guessed 9 wins and while they exceeded expectations I can't help but feel they could of won one vs OKC, POR, or TOR.
