It really is, NetIncome is rightfully getting a lot of abuse on there for his (Please Use More Appropriate Word) comments. I'm just surprised it has taken this long for the community to turn on him.

It won't be that bad if you expect bad basketball going in. We're not contenders but we are better than we were 5 years ago. We'll be ok after next season. Hopefully next season we'll still be a 6-8 seed in the East.

I have been reading that thread for most of the afternoon and it is HILARIOUS. These are one of those moments that i wish I wasn't banned, I would have torched that dude so bad he'd have to delete the comments...and then request my banning :rock:

I don't care anymore, there may be some dark days ahead but I'm glad this nonsense is over. Maybe the next regime will want to build a sustainable product.

Next summer things will begin to clear up. :nod:

As long as the team stays in BKN and we can free up some cap I know players will want to be there.

Again bring back Blatche he is cheap and can play and loves BKN. Trade for Lance. Get some minimal pieces that bring excitement and other stars notice. We dont want players coming here just cause we are overpaying.

Latest updates on this seems to indicate no changes...meaning Prok still getting "feelers" to see if he can get a Ballmer-like deal.

I think what's new is the report from Scott Soshnick that Prok hired an investment firm to sell the team. Woj, confirmed that, that the Nets are on the Market. Howard Beck as wel said they're for sale.

It seems Brossard and the Nets brass is either doing damage control by denying reports or they are telling the truth that the Nets are just keeping options open and nothing is serious. It's tough to tell, but I'm of thinking where there's smoke there's fire. The value of franchises is high, Russian economy collapsing, chance to make a killing on his investment.

Yea, I think what's drawing people's attention is the Scott Soshnick piece that he hired the investment firm to sell the firm. I don't think you hire the investment firm just to listen to offers. I think it shows a greater intent to sell than previous reports

He was reportedly trying to sell to the Guggenheim group but with the intent of remaining the controlling owner. The whole point of shaving down the luxury tax was to show interested investors he was willing to cut spending.

That could be what's happening here.

Adrian Wojnarowski quotes a league official as saying Prokhorov did not initiate the talks and there is NO willingness to sell.

"Just listening so far," a league official with direct knowledge told Woj. "They haven't indicated a desire or willingness to sell. …Nothing was initiated by [Prokhorov]."

Gonna take a guess that nothing happens here. There's not a lot of parties that I can see parting with a cool billion to make Prok sell.

I still dont see this happening. I think Prokorov is looking for liquidity so he will sell off his shares to the point that he is still the majority owner.

While there are problems with the Russian currenecy, Prokorov is definitely hedged in some fashion vs the rupples decline. In fact, I wouldnt be surprised if he is actually making money on the rupple's decline by taking a short position. The guy is a financial giant. The game is rigged for the Prokorov's and Warren Buffet's of the world.

I heard that Prok is interested in selling the team, but wants to maintain his equity in the Barclay Center, where both the Nets and New York Islanders will play.

Nets fans should be excited here. Prokorhov is a loud billionaire who cared more about making a name for himself than winning. Sure, your 3 years away from a true rebuild but hopefully you use that time to build the infrastructure and scouting to do it the right way.
