Terps land highly-rated OL Quarvez Boulware and DL Oseh Saine
Maryland’s football team addressed two of its primary problem areas Saturday, securing commitments from four-star Class of 2015 offensive guard Quarvez Boulware and Class of 2015 defensive end Oseh Saine.
Sources confirmed both commitments.
The 6-foot-3, 285-pound Boulware (Friendship Collegiate Academy) becomes the latest prospect from Maryland or Washington, D.C., to commit to the Terps, continuing the “hometown movement” Maryland is in the process of building.
Boulware took an official visit to Maryland in December and was in College Park for an unofficial visit this weekend when he committed.
Boulware chose the Terps over offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Wake Forest and others, according to ESPN.
Rivals.com rates Boulware the 14th-best offensive guard in the Class of 2015 and the third-best prospect from Washington.

Re: Official Maryland Terps Thread 3.0
Great home win over Michigan State. 2-0 vs Tom Izzo in Mark Turgeon’s first year of B1G basketball.
From AP writer David Ginsburg:
From AP writer David Ginsburg:
COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) -- As the clock ticked toward zero, Maryland freshman Melo Trimble had one sensational play left to make in a remarkable first half.
Dribbling the ball to the top of the key, Trimble performed a crossover dribble so impressive that his defender, Lourawls Nairn Jr., lost his balance. Trimble then buried the 3-point shot as the buzzer sounded, bringing an even higher level of volume from the sellout crowd of 17,950.
With Trimble leading the way, No. 14 Maryland breezed past Michigan State 75-59 Saturday to sweep the season series and gain sole possession of first place in the Big Ten.
Trimble scored 21 of his 24 points in the first half, which ended with the Terrapins ahead 40-26. The margin swelled to 20 with 10 minutes left.
''Great win,'' coach Mark Turgeon said. ''That's what I've been waiting for. I don't think we've played our best basketball recently, and our guys stepped up and really played well.''
In the first game between the teams, Maryland escaped with a double-overtime victory on Dec. 30. This one was all but over after Trimble juked Nairn off his feet and drained the shot.
''Things were just dropping for me,'' Trimble said.
It was highlight reel stuff, except perhaps for those who see the 6-foot-3 point guard perform on a daily basis.
''I've seen Melo do that many times, and it doesn't shock me,'' Turgeon said.
Trimble had help. Jake Layman had 23 points and 12 rebounds, his fourth double-double of the season and second in a row. But credit this victory to Trimble, who made seven of 11 shots in the first half, including 5 for 7 from beyond the arc.
''I have to say he's the straw that stirs the drink,'' Michigan State coach Tom Izzo said. ''He gets other people involved. Once in a while, he's almost casual out there. He doesn't really look to do much. He just gets people involved. He's as good as I've seen in a while.''
Maryland (17-2, 5-1) sank 11 3-pointers and limited the Spartans (12-6, 3-2) to 3-for-17 shooting from beyond the arc. Another factor: Maryland went 20 for 22 at the foul line and Michigan State was 4 for 13.
Izzo used the words ''awful'' and ''pitiful'' to describe his team's performance.
''That was an inept performance by us on a big stage,'' he said. ''That doesn't happen very often. That is on me.''
Playing its first season in the Big Ten, Maryland moved a half-game ahead of idle Wisconsin for the top spot and handed Michigan State its most-lopsided defeat of the season.
Branden Dawson had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Spartans and Matt Costello scored 12. Michigan State had won three straight since losing to Maryland.
''We didn't make layups. We didn't guard,'' Izzo said. ''Very disappointing. Every time I think we take two steps forward, we take one step back.''
The Terrapins didn't need any offense from Dez Wells, who came in averaging 14.1 points but didn't score until sinking a layup with 14:39 left.
The basket put the Terps up 50-37, and Wells followed with a 3 that boosted the margin to 16 and effectively ended any shot the Spartans had of making a comeback.
TIP-INS
Michigan State: Dawson played without a brace above his left hand for the first time since he fractured his wrist Dec. 17 against Eastern Michigan. He missed games on Dec. 20 and 22 before returning with a brace against the Terps.
Maryland: The Terrapins used their eighth different starting lineup. Sophomore Damonte Dodd was replaced by Jon Graham, who missed his first two shots and was taken out for Dodd with just over three minutes elapsed.
UP AND DOWN
Michigan State: Travis Trice, who had a Spartans-leading average of 14.3 points per game, finished with five on 2-for-8 shooting.
''My leaders have to play better,'' Izzo said.
Trice was guarded for the most part by Trimble, who said, ''I really wanted to ... play great D on him because I knew it was going to be an important part of the game.''
Maryland: Layman scored four points in the first game between the teams. In this one, he was overshadowed only by Trimble.
''We took advantage of (Layman's) matchups today and he was smart about it,'' Turgeon said. ''What makes it look better is that he finishes when those plays happen.''
UP NEXT
Michigan State hosts Penn State on Wednesday.
Maryland travels to Indiana on Thursday.

Went back and watched first half of the game. Man! Trimble looked like Derrick Rose during his MVP year. He made the game look soooo easy.

Biggest Mover
Maryland Terrapins
Randy Edsall saw his program shoot up 10 spots in the recruiting rankings Saturday as Maryland picked up pledges from four-star offensive guard Quarvez Boulware from Washington (D.C.) Friendship and defensive end Oseh Saine.
Now holding the nation’s No. 37 ranked recruiting class, good for No. 6 in the Big Ten, the Terrapins can be real pleased with the offensive line class that is led by Boulware and fellow four-star E.J. Donahue, with the big fish Top100 offensive tackle Isaiah Prince still on the board. Maryland is considered the favorite for Prince over his other finalists Alabama and Ohio State, and 247Sports was told on Saturday that Boulware’s commitment should help with Prince.
Maryland is really building up that offensive line, landing five-star offensive tackle Damian Prince and former blue-chipper Derwin Gray in the 2014 class.

Everyone talks about freshman Trimble - as they should - but Jake Layman is balling this season - making over 60% of his 2's, 40% of his 3's, getting to the line, and now he's hitting the boards. He's inching his way closer to first round pick status - as is Trimble. Hopefully, they both stay for another year. I think most would disagree with me, but I regard Layman as a better prospect.

Landon LB Keith Simms talks Maryland, Dwayne Haskins, the movement
Randy Edsall and the Maryland coaching staff have been tirelessly recruiting linebackers in hopes of replacing the veteran leadership lost to graduation this offseason. One glimmer of hope comes in the form of 2016 Landon School (MD) standout LB/TE Keith Simms. Simms has been aggressively courted by Edsall and defensive line coach Chad Wilt, and he's come away impressed thus far.
"Maryland is obviously the hometown school so I like that, and a lot of the recruits are my friends," Simms said. "We're trying to go to the same school and a lot of those guys want to stay home and play for their state. That's one thing that helps Maryland out a lot."
Simms has taken notice of the buzz surrounding Maryland's recruiting campaigns, like the 30 for 30 #DMV2UMD campaign, and has kept in contact with some of the other local heavyweights about the idea of joining forces.
"I talked to Dwayne Haskins about it. We played against each other in our conference. He always advocates Maryland. We've talked about how that could be a potential place for both of us. With Adam McLean and Tino Ellis, there is a group chat and we all talk on that. Other than that, I don't talk to them as much as I talk to Dwayne. Dwayne is definitely trying to get everyone to go to one school, and he's been advocating Maryland a lot, especially as of late."

Maryland Creeping Into the No. 1 Seed Discussion?
File this under sentences you never thought you'd read this season: Maryland appears to be creeping into the conversation about potential NCAA Tournament No. 1 seeds.
The Terps are a No. 2 seed in Joe Lunardi's latest edition of Bracketology, up one spot from their third seed in his projections a week ago. A million things, of course, could and will change before Selection Sunday rolls around. But as of today, Lunardi has Maryland (17-2 overall, 5-1 Big Ten) as the No. 2 seed in the South.
The top seed in Lunardi's imaginary region? None other than former ACC rival Duke. Now that would make for a fun storyline.
Meanwhile, at least one site already has Maryland projected as a No. 1 seed, although the Terps are noticeably low outliers in the RPI and schedule strength categories compared to the other top seeds on the list. Jerry Palm, CBSSports' bracket guru, had Maryland as a three seed in his most recent projections on Monday.
The Terps are No. 13 in the NCAA's public RPI ratings, which would place them closer to a No. 3 seed than a No. 1 right now. They can boost their standing with a top-50 RPI win tonight at Indiana (No. 44).

Maryland facilities upgrades help in recruiting
When Maryland announced its plans for a $155 million upgrade to its football facilities, recruits took notice. The plans call for a renovation to Cole Field House, construction of an indoor practice facility and integration between academics and athletics.
Coach Randy Edsall called the move a game-changer for the program, especially in terms of recruiting.
“With these kids it shows that the university is making a commitment to football. It shows that there’s a commitment here to make the student-athlete the best it can be,” Edsall said. “It shows with the other things we have that we’re heading in the right direction and you’ve got everything here. You’ve got the quality education, Big Ten football and now you can train and develop yourself with the state-of-the-art facilities that aren’t going to be any better anywhere else in the country.”
Edsall has been talking about adding new facilities since he was hired at Maryland. Coming from UConn and seeing the impact the new facilities had on their athletics and recruiting, Edsall knew it was imperative for the Terps to upgrade the facilities to compete with bigger programs and a bigger, wealthier league.
The upgrades became that much more important when Maryland joined the Big Ten as Maryland is currently without an indoor practice facility, which most conference programs have. Edsall also believes the weight room isn’t big enough and the current training room doesn’t meet the needs of the student-athletes in terms of preventative measures and rehabilitation.
Local recruits and Maryland targets were clamoring for the upgrades almost as much as Edsall. The prospects echoed Edsall’s thoughts on how the facilities can help the athletes, and they recognize the new additions will help the Terps on the recruiting trail.
Dwayne Haskins, a Potomac, Maryland prospect, is the No. 26 prospect in the 2016 class. He is a big target for the Terps, and as the No. 2-ranked pocket-passer in the class, Haskins could help change the future of the program.
Haskins has scholarship offers from nearly every big program in the country. That means he knows what everyone else has to offer and is excited that Maryland will be catching up.
“It does help out because the in-state kids are used to going to Texas and Florida and seeing those facilities, then coming home and seeing the smaller weight room compared to those bigger schools,” he said. “So with them getting the new facilities, it definitely gives that look that people want and makes it more comparable to other schools. Now that the facilities are there, it makes it easier to pitch the school to recruits.”
President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Isaiah Prince commits to Alabama: Maryland loses out on top in-state prospect
Maryland has lost out on their biggest remaining target in the 2015 class, as four-star local offensive tackle Isaiah Prince committed to Alabama, Ryan Bartow is reporting. The Eleanor Roosevelt (Md.) prospect is considered the best player in the state of Maryland, and would have made it three out of four years that the Terps landed the top in-state player (Stefon Diggs, Damian Prince). The prospect has reportedly canceled visits to both Ohio State and Maryland.
Prince is rated a four-star prospect by the 247Sports composite, ranking as the No. 105 prospect in the class and the seventh-best offensive tackle in the country. He chose the Tide over offers from Ohio State, Alabama, Florida and Penn State, among others.
Prince would have given the Terrapins three blue-chip commitments in the class, joining defensive tackle Adam McLean and interior offensive lineman Quarvez Boulware (whose commitment status is up in the air, to say the least). His commitment would have also given Maryland four blue-chip offensive linemen over the past two classes, all of which would be freshmen this season. Three is still nothing to scoff at, but Prince would have particularly helped on the outside at tackle.

D'Andre Payne transfers to Maryland: Terps pick up former 4-star CB from Tennessee
Maryland has added an important future piece to their secondary, as former Tennessee cornerback D'Andre Payne will transfer to College Park. A D.C. native, Payne was a four-star prospect coming out of high school in 2014.
Payne played as a true freshman for Tennessee this season, so if he has to sit out he can use his redshirt year (giving him three years of eligibility for the Terrapins). He played in eight games for the Volunteers, mostly on special teams, recording four tackles.
A 5'9, 185-pound defensive back, Payne was a highly-rated prospect coming out of H.D. Woodson his senior year. He was considered a four-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite in the 2014 Class, ranking as the 22nd-best cornerback in the class and the second-best player in D.C. (behind Jalen Tabor and ahead of Will Ulmer). Prior to his senior year at Woodson, Payne was at Friendship Academy with current Maryland players Yannick Ngakoue, Cavon Walker, Jermaine Carter and Derwin Gray, among others.
Cornerback has been a position of need for Maryland for a few years now, and adding a talented player like Payne will help significantly with the secondary's depth. Consider this a big win for the Class of 2015.

No surprise that he didn't choose Maryland.
I won't be surprised if Damian Prince or others transfer from Maryland. D Prince was a 5-star recruit who ended up redshirting--unless he played late in the season.
