ESPN - Does Draymond Green deserve a max deal?

I'm a go ahead and tell you right now that there isn't a Bulls fan alive who'd agree with his inclusion and many would say Jimmy's defense has slipped this year compared to last.

I suppose with how much the Bulls have needed his offense I guess it's understandable why it would dip certainly when Thibs plays him 40 mins a game.

I'm not saying it's Pau's lack of ability (he'd be so much better playing 30 a night 70 times this year and I think you'd just lose many of his awful nights) but Pau simply isn't a first team all-defense player this year. Blocks are great and all and he defends the rim well, but he's horrific at doing anything that is outside his wing span.

Max noway but when players like Landry Fields, Burks are being paid crazy dollars it makes sense as too why someone might throw him a max.

He deserves around 10 to 11 a year anything more we should not match.

Tony Allen is one of the best defenders in the world; he's not on a max contract, nor would he get one if he were FA today. Green definitely has more offensive skill than Allen, but I personally still don't think it's enough to be a max guy.

Like I said, it's offence that gets you paid. Being "pretty good" at offence generally doesn't get you a max deal. (Conversely, if you're elite on offence, you can even get away with "pretty bad" on defence and you might still get maxed.) Could it happen to Green? I suppose...but I would be surprised.

Tony Allen is a great wing defender (albeit less so now), but has no 3pt shot, is not a playmaker, and can't create for himself. He also can't guard both Blake Griffin and CP3 in ISO on back to back possessions. He's an undersized 2 with no offensive talent.

At his best, he was not nearly as impactful as Dray currently is, and the stats would back that up in droves.

How much is Demarre Carroll paid again?use that as a starting point.Jimmy Butler should get max.

Why would your starting point be a weak defensive forward who can't pass and doesn't rebound at a high level? The idea that you think the two are in the same world is very telling of your BBIQ.

I'd love Draymond Green on a 4 year 60 mil deal isn't a bad idea. I think he's easily a first team all defender and I think at best he could be a prime Josh Smith type player. If we get Green and Dragic I'll be a happy man.

People saying draymond is a great shooter or even good haven't seen his 3 point percentage. And yes he is a good rebounder for being under sized but calling him elite on 3's or a elite rebounder thats wrong. Elite defender yes no question.

The article literally talks about how Draymond Green's value is in all the intangibles and defensive versatility and stuff that does not show up on boxscore stats, and now you're comparing numbers. It's like comparing Bruce Bowen's numbers to Wes Johnson and saying they are players of equal value.
