NFC/AFC Conference Championships Game Thread
Read this on the Hoopla:
"Luck is like a sixth receiver you have to cover."
Maybe I'm taking it way out of context, but I can't help think that's a subtle shot at (John) Harbaugh (for the tricks on substitutions complaint). LOL either way.

I kind of wish the games were today and I really hate the two week window until the Super Bowl.

Me too. The two weeks help the teams, I suppose, but it does nothing for us out of it. It also will kill some of the borderline football fans.

Don't kid yourself....it's about 10% for the players and 90% for the NFL to make tons of money. It's such a corporate event....priced way beyond what the normal person can afford.

When I said kill, I wasn't talking about money. I was talking about actual enjoyment or following the league. They'll get their money even/especially from people who don't care about football.

Re: NFC/AFC Conference Championships Game Thread
I rooting for GB and NE. I don't think Indy has any chance of beating SEA so I'd rather see the Pats get a chance. Either Brady loses another SB or SEA loses. Some solace in either scenario. Goal #1 is SEA loss.
I live around a bunch of GB fans so if they win it all that will be a bit unbearable but I hope they take out SEA today. I can say they were ecstatic we didn't make the playoffs. Even the most cocky GB fans are scared of SFO based on recent history.

Re: NFC/AFC Conference Championships Game Thread
Here are my picks....I'm historically above average but this year has been horrible for me.
IND @ NE
Not a good match-up for Indy in my opinion and last I read Vontae Davis might be hurting. Bad news for Indy. They may keep it close in the first half but I see an easy 37-27 victory for NE. They will have no answer for Gronk, I see a special teams return of some kind, and one of their RBs has a big day. Isn't this the team Jonas Gray destroyed? I see this as a day where NE keeps their foot on the accelerator all day giving Indy no hope of a comeback. A total in the 40's for NE wouldn't surprise me. Luck needs many more weapons than he currently has.
GB @ SEA
I believe SEA can be beaten, even at home. The key, which is easier said than done, is getting ahead early. A 20-10 third quarter lead would be perfect for GB. SEA is like a fully loaded 18 wheeler. They accelerate from 0-60 extremely slow but they plow over everything in their path once up to speed. They play much tighter when behind and those opportunities will come early. Getting behind by two scores in the second half is a death sentence for anyone playing SEA.
I think Davante Adams and Cobb are HUGE for this game. They must have big games to win because Jordy will be smothered without multiple receiving threats. I would force SEA to have Simon on the field. That guy is a target. I see Cobb or Adams abusing him all day if he's on the field. Also, I don't get why receivers don't run routes changing directions on Sherman. That's his weakness. He's very mediocre when forced to change directions. Vertical routes aren't the way to attack him. That's why I believe a receiver like Stevie J gave him problems (big game as a Bill).
I'm in the camp that thinks Rodgers injury is WORSE than people realize. If healthy, this would be a much tougher game for SEA. He's the best Qb on planet earth when healthy.
Lacy gets better as the game goes on and SEA can be ran on. Again the key is not being behind SEA. I have a weird feeling he coughs the ball up at a bad time today, either deep in GBs end or late in the game. I hope I am wrong. I'd like to see more Starks early in the game and more Lacy in the second half once they soften up a bit.
As much as I believe SEA can be beaten, Rodgers health and that horrible performance in week 1 are stuck in my mind. I see the classic SEA pattern being repeated. Close game early, Seattle's offense wearing down GBs D in the second half, a critical turnover late leading to a two score lead, and GB not able to come back from it in hostile territory with a gimpy QB. Also, Wilson's ability to heave up prayers to his WRs is maddening. Finally, Kaep has absolutely abused these guys running. Wilson may have 100+ yards rushing in this one before he has 100 yards passing.
SEA 30, GB 20

Not sure if it's based solely on numbers or volume/personality, but #Packers fans not nearly as noticeable here as #49ers fans last year.

Re: NFC/AFC Conference Championships Game Thread
I really wish Pete Caroll hadn't gone to the Seahawks. I went to USC and was bothered by people saying that he was only a college coach and pointed to his previous NFL stint. So, even though I rooted on Harbaugh as our coach, I never really joined in the comments about how douchebag Caroll could be (no argument from me), I wanted him to prove he could win - just not with Seattle, St. Louis, or Arizona.
So, I too, root for Seattle to lose, but I don't share the same disdain for Caroll. I have to say, since he won last year, I don't have any rooting interest for him to prove anything. I wanted Manning to lose and him to win, but it would have been better for us to have beaten Manning (and of course, Caroll).

Seattle just dominates in every thing possible vs this Packers team with a hobbled Aaron Rodgers, IMO this would be the upset of the century if the Packers win today but I just can't come to the realization or find anything that makes me think the Packers can upset the Seachickens today

They were until I realized that we need Chud to be free. So in spite of my wager on teh Colts winning I am now hoping they lose. I don't want Kiffin as OC even though he is a good one.

Re: NFC/AFC Conference Championships Game Thread
Usually Seattle is the beneficiary of those kind of breaks......and then one of the stupidest penalties ever. That could haunt them badly if they only get three.
